If I recall correctly, the 9N does not have a live PTO. That is often a real problem, especially when brush hogging and you need to stop for anything.

NO it is not a problem, an ORC (over run clutch) freewheels the PTO when you stop the tractor. IMHO no tractor should be without one even those with live PTO's

John, I agree with you. The ORC sure saves the PTO brake on the tractor.

Not to mention not being able to stop the tractor from going in the pond, your wife's flower garden, etc., as the centrifugal force of the bush hog blade being transferred forward to the transmission continues to drive the tractor forward, even with one standing on the clutch, cussing, praying, etc.

Watched it happen not long ago. Neighbor on a 8n-? and a BH.. Acre lot in the back yard. Couldn't stop it! Took out some small trees on the property line that did stop it. Eyes as big as softballs! INKY.

I’ve learned better than trying to use an old n on a pto implement or a front loader. This one looks like it has the original pto cover on it and that will stay on it as long as I own it, in the highly unlikely event that I end up with it.

I do like the blue paint and the new seat on it though, and the tires and rims look ok. Ive still got to make sure that the hydraulics work, and that it starts and goes thru all the gears, and the clutch is ok.

It will be a no go for me if it don’t check all those boxes, which I doubt very much it does or it wouldn’t have sat there over 2 weeks.
