Then Monday our bull "barbacoa" busted down 2 fences and I had 5 cows on 3 different properties.
The next time I get him in the corral he will be on his way to becoming barbacoa for real.

When they get loose, it'll have you saying "Where's the beef?"

I don't live near Fredericksburg, but I saw that they got 2.3" of rain. Great news for them. It has been so dry there for so long.

Looks like more rain heading this way also.

The wild Mustang grape crop looks like it will be a bumper crop this year. Has anyone successfully made Mustang grape wine?

My 93 or 94 year old uncle used to make it. Can't really say how good it was. Never had it.

My mom made it once when I was 12, and I told her it was the best wine I ever had. I wasn't lying because before that day I never had any, but my dad and mom agreed it was pretty bad.
My uncle used to make some mustang grape wine, and dewberry wine that I always thought was pretty good.

I have a cousin who made some about 1968-69. He said it tasted pretty good, but their little house had a see through bookcase/room divider between the living room and kitchen. He had gotten a bottle that he thought was especially pretty, full of that wine, and he set it up at the top of that bookcase. It exploded, got wine and glass shards on the carpet, and all over the living room and kitchen, including in his wife's hair. And that was the end of his wine making.

The Mustang grapes are very acidic. I have read warnings that the fermentation takes about 5 months and if you bottle it before the fermentation stops, bottle explosion is likely. That means if I start harvesting the grapes, when they are ripe in July, I could bottle them in December.

Lou I have been seeing that you have been pounded, hope you are high and dry.

I've made jelly from mustang grapes but never wine. Wouldn't mind trying it but don't have a recipe.

Harvesting some onions and garlic, drying now, I was concerned with all the wet ground they would rot, so I harvested those that were close. HS
