Cut your hay field and it will rain.. it's raining now,, build it and they will come.. someone at the front door.. its been one week and I have hay on the ground.:confused3::). Lou

Lou,
How many acres of hay did you lose?
How many tons per acre?
I know nothing about southern hay.
Will you just leave it as cut on the ground to rot in as fertilizer or do you have
to spend more time and fuel getting it off of there?
Ron

Ron, I bet he has Coastal, so he will likely have to rake it and get it off there. Otherwise he'd end up with some nice yellow stripes in his field if the windrows are of any size.

Since rain has been a total anomaly around here, I think Lou can file for some subsidy, "rain damaged my crop and we dont get rain around here" kind of complaint:laughing:

Rain all around Henderson Texas, you East Texas boys must be out with the war drums, some of you may get lucky.

Looks like Eddie W. may have had a decent rain.

Foreman, I noticed quite a few brown pines on the way down from Marshall, is it the dryness or the beetles?? May be normal, but I dont recall as many dieing pines in past trips out here, still pretty country though:thumbsup:

Well gentlemen I baled some hay today.. The rain missed the land.. but got the house and yard.. my yard looks nice.. so does my tomatoes plant.. although they are not making tomatoes.. but my yard is making grass.. I rolled the hay field this afternoon.. around 15 A.. got 35 and 1/2 bales of 4x5,, the cows will eat some nice clean grass.. rain washed the dirt off.. also most of the protein.. that was some bad azz rain.. acid rain I tell you.. anyway the bales are in the field and Lou is drunk.. but on a positive note: I have got so much rain in the last week.. that I may get another cutting the first of Nov right after I get back from Las Vegas.. I bet I had not seen two scorpions in the last twenty plus years until the 2011 drought. Started finding them in the house frequently. I sometimes would get a flashlight and go outside late at nite and find them on the side of the house (hardi-plank siding). We have never used an exterminator. I buy Demon at the local feed store and mix in a pump up sprayer then spray from ground up about three feet and around windows and doors. Works pretty good for a while. I have noticed I don't see the green lizards (chameleons?) any more but do have the little speckled (gecko?) lizards now.

We heard the Thunder to the East but not a drop of rain..........NADA. Will do Rain Dance Sat. till I drop, I guess. With this heat that shouldn't take long.

I see very few of the green striped geckos around, but do see them from time-to-time still. What I see constantly are tree lizards. Some of them are so fat that they look like little 'gators. Last Sunday night, we were leaving to go to dinner and one particularly fat one was running around on our driveway. My grandson chased him under our car and I saw him just behind a tire. I shooed him under the car and then very slowly backed out of the driveway, hoping he would move rather than get smushed. As we got far enough back, there he was, perfectly fine, in front of us on the driveway. We laughed when we looked up to the garage door windows and say every cat inside standing on something to look out the windows. All were looking right at the lizard. It just doesn't know how lucky it was that it didn't get run over and didn't get eaten by our cats.:D

Alot of it is from lack of rain but ********* is always getting some,im 15 miles SW(Oakwood area),not many pines here but the cedars/oaks have been dieing out. I fix fence pretty regular and nothing to hear a tree falling in woods from drought last 3yrs. Grasshopper got pretty bad,had to spray some pastures.
Out of 115acres i baled up 167,5x4 rolls.Better than last year but still only one cutting on all fields but one 20acres meadow got two but they wasnt good. What I couldnt turn cows in I just got done shredding them.I hope we have a wet winter and spring.
