Used Remedy and diesel mix and also Remedy and water mix both with some success. But the best kill rate I got was mixing some leftover Remedy with Sendero.
Happy First Day of Spring 2018!
Happy Texas Spring!
Question of the day: Who can help me with a wildlife exemption?
Background: 27 acres purchased last year from an AG exempt subdivision of a large tract in Lampasas County. I have the 1-d-1 (Form 50-129) in hand, due May 1st. I cannot claim it as AG since I am not living there and have no livestock, not even a building up yet. What do I need to put on this form and what will I need on the property to support the claim? Any assistance you can offer is greatly appreciated!
Go sit down with your County Appraisal District. Here, in Colorado County, they’ve always been very helpful. I’m planning on eventually switching from Ag Exempt to a Wildlife Exemption.

I don't believe you have to live there. If you can claim it as a hay production field, it can be AG exempt.
Correct! But, the CAD will expect to see some hay production. A neighbor, at our Fayette County place. would buy a round bale and display it at front of his property every year. He was eventually busted and lost his Ag Exemption plus got to pay back his tax savings over several years. The CAD folks are not dummies.
If Lampasas is anything like it's neighbor Burnet County, they will sit down with you and walk you through page by page. Burnet could not have possibly been more helpful.
Thanks all for the input. Jack, when you say "they" do you mean the Texas Parks and Wildlife or the Appraisal district? I've asked TP&W for assistance and am waiting to hear back.
We're applying for Wildlife since we'll not be using it for AG in the next 5 years. My plan is to provide food, water and shelter for native birds and animals, thus feeders, undisturbed brush piles, bird houses and creating a pond since I have an excellent place to dig and let naturally fill.
If I don't hear from TP&W by Monday, I'm going to call the Appraisal District and make an appointment with them. It means I have to take a day off but it's worth it!
Texas Parks & Wildlife and Colorado County Agri-Life are putting on a joint Wildlife Tax Valuation Workshop in Early April to assist anyone wanting to transition from Ag to Wildlife Management.
The Wildlife Valuation workshop today was very good. It was organized by our county Texas Agri-Life extension agent and our local Texas Parks & Wildlife Biologist. Our Colorado County Appraisal District Chief Appraiser also spoke and answered numerous questions.
It was a day well spent. Since I知 just starting, I won稚 make the April 30th deadline to submit my plan but, now I have a year to perfect it.
You have time. Fill in the checkboxes and submit it with the 1-D-1. They told us in class that we don't have to have it all up and running by the 30th, just a plan submitted and working toward that goal through the year. I only have 1 of three things done and won't get the third item in place until well after the plan is submitted.
Were you in the class in Burnet? I was there Friday.
Rick, which type of wildlife are you going to be gearing your plan toward?
