I got my truck back today. It was only the lift pump and only cost $968. Yippee!
hugs, Brandi
!@#$% seems all vehicle repairs are so much more $$$$ than they used to be. Glad you're happy with how it turned out. Did you take off work to pick it up? Stopping by on your way home? Gate's all complete now - including paint.

I don't drink much beer anymore, but I used to stay with Bud, and now what I do buy and drink is Shiner Bock. But my tastes in lots of foods have changed over the years, too.

Considering your mechanical capabilities and aptitude, would or should you have fixed it yourself?

Charlie,
If she doesn't put cake in her face, I will. It is all fun.

bindian- Wow is it a year already. Time do fly don't it. We want a picture of the dive into the Birthday cake. One year olds are just too cute and the first birthday is special.

We're headed to Dallas this morning for our 4 yo grand daughters Party. It doesn't seem like she can be 4 and she's not even the youngest anymore. Denise left work early yesterday to go shopping and came home with a bunch of clothes for her presents. All the Grand daughters seem to be "Clothes Horses" at an early age, but they also have a little Tom Boy in them too.

Other than the Birthday the next best thing is we'll stop for lunch at my favorite Tex-Mex place, my old partner Matt Martinez's Rancho Martinez there on the G.W. Bush. I can already taste the Chicken Enchiladas Verde. Then we'll go to "Oldest Son's" place in Sachse and he'll try to get me to drink one of his "Beer Snob" Beers, but I'll just try to run him out of Bud Lite.

Charlie

Mike,
I took off three hours early yesterday morning and took a 3 hour nap and then drove to Austin and back, all with a sinus infection.

It broke down in Manor, 10 minutes east of Austin. All my tools and equipment were 3 hours away.

Anyone else's tastes change and do a 180? For 30ish years I've liked Budweiser and have never liked Miller Lite. Really like the Budweiser Select. Also Coors. But in the last year I've developed the taste for Miller Lite and also some of the fancier brands. My son in law mixed a Blue Moon with a Guiness (I had never had either one) and called it a Black n Blue. Was very good. Either my tastes are changing or they've altered their recipes.

I discovered Shiner bock in the 80s before it went mainstream and have stuck with it. Used to be only a few grocery stores and not many bars carried it. Now you can get it on draft all over. They make other flavors, but the only other one I like is "wild hare" pale ale. Never did care for light beer - runs right through me.

Pretty hard to beat a COLD Lone Star!

Are you familiar with Lone Star's history? It's been owned by lots of different brewing companies. I visited the Lone Star Brewery a couple of times in 1962 when it was a really interesting place with the Buckhorn Saloon & Museum, part of which has been moved downtown a block from the Alamo.

They have been around the block, like a lot of companies after the business models changed in the late 1990's.It was brewed in San Antonio :cincodemayo: for years then Longview  then Ft. Worth  and after that I lost track but it's my old time favorite and still the best!

Mr. Willard Mercier, a long time friend, passed a couple of weeks ago after working for Lone Star for 62 years.

As with many breweries, they used to have free samples at the brewery in San Antonio, and I'll never forget taking a cousin there to see the "Hall of Horns", "Hall of Fins", etc. (very interesting free museum) in 1962. Then we went into the "Buckhorn Saloon". I was 22 and my cousin was 20. The bartender didn't even ask about ID, just said to me, "Would you like a beer, sir?" then he turned to my cousin and asked, "And would you like a root beer, sir?"

When we left, my cousin was grumbling about not getting a beer, and I told him I thought it was real nice of them to have root beer for the kiddies.:D

I believe he was my friend's uncle. Family name from Nixon Texas.

That's correct Kyle. "Wilbur Bob" is buried in Nixon.

As far as I know Lone Star was his first and only job.

I had met him once, many years ago. Around 1983 maybe? Seemed a good old boy back then.
