I agree, Lou!

9 more jars of pickled zucchini! Before anyone asks, most are pint jars, but there are a couple of half pint jars in there too! This is a bread and butter type recipe. I try to have some half pint jars to allow friends to "sample", as well as to add to gift baskets the next Christmas season.

Did I mention, I love this time of year? I really do! :D

Farmgirl: Every day I got to the garden and come back to the house with a bucket full of zucs and squash. I've never made pickles with zucchini, but we have a pantry full of pickles anyhow. My wife par-boils and freezes most of the squash we keep.

Lou: You did great. My pet peave is people who weigh 400+ in the wheelchair carts. I know they are disabled, but they've done it to themselves. My oldest brother died because he got so fat that circulation was cut off to his bowel. I loved him, but made no excuses for him. He wanted to eat more than he wanted to live.

jinman; I make yellow squash pickles too! I also freeze zucchini and yellow squash, for using in recipes in the winter. And I plant for the fall too! One of the most versatile foods! And I love to put food up for the winter, even if I give a lot of it away! Great to be blessed with more than enough to share, year 'round! Life is good, no matter what today deals us!

An added note. I have seen those that are too heavy to get out of bed. Now, I won't claim that I couldn't lose 10-15 pounds, and be in better shape, but if you can't get out of bed, to go potty, WHO is bringing you that food? It breaks my heart to see those in such shape. None of us is perfect, but there has to be a limit. And yes, after a truck wreck and lots of medical issues from it, I had to come back from being overweight, (still have the last 15 to lose). I am not uncaring, and I really do understand. I hope that I am never back where I was more than 10 years ago. It is a harder road to deal with than many understand. It can be done though, without feeling deprived. I do my best not to judge, as I love cooking, eating good food, and alcohol. One can "get there from here" though.

I am very sorry about your brother, jinman.

I just had carpal tunnel syndrome surgery and I can’t walk because of the pain in my hand..

That's really incredible. You know I had carpal tunnel surgery on my right hand on Aug. 4, 1997. I overheard that surgeon that morning telling the anesthesiologist that mine was the worst he'd ever seen. Both wrists hurt so bad that I had quit going to bed at night; just sat up in a chair and dozed off and on. Now I know it makes a big difference in whether you get the right surgeon. My mother had that surgery on one hand in Corpus Christi and it didn't help, so my surgeon re-did hers in Dallas and fixed it. Anyway, the surgery stopped my pain in the right wrist almost immediately. A week later, I called his office to see how soon he could do the other hand. His nurse told me he liked to wait 3 months before doing the second hand, and I told her that just wouldn't do. So he did my left hand on Sept. 3, 1997.

But I sure didn't have any trouble walking after that surgery.:laughing:

Holly goodness something is falling out of the sky..right now..:thumbsup::) Lou

If you tell me it is rain, Lou, I might have the "Big O"!

In a different note, if anyone is within driving distance of me, and wants some zucchini bread, let me know, I'll likely make 2 more loaves tomorrow, after work, and am willing to share. I only have simple requests. One is the fact that I am feet on the floor at 0330, so I can't meet you after around 1700-1800. The other, well, if you PM me and want to meet and get a loaf of zucchini bread, I'll share with you then. Not a big issue, has more to do with a cyber stalker, than this forum.

Dang, Lou; If you live near the Brazoria County Airport, your weather report doesn't look half bad, at this point! I wish you rain, and nothing damaging.

I have exended family in Beaumont. My mom was from there. No blood family left, but those through marriage are still there. I try to keep tabs on the area, when serious stuff might be approaching.

If I can't get the rain, it is nice to know someone else in Texas might!
