Thinking of adding a grapple to my list of attachments but want one that will work on my TC40DAss and my Mahindra 6000. Read most of the threads in the attachment section and know some of you have various types on your NH. But, is there a realistic max weight for the tc40? I think I have narrowed it down to Millonzi, Bradco or rootgrapple. I like the feature of two thumbs and more of a rake to get under things. Most weigh in the 600 to 700 range in a 60 to 70+ inch size. Does that work?

700 to 800 lb will work fine on the TC40xx. My rock bucket with grapple is about 750 lb and it is fine. You will notice that your lift capacity is down to about 1200 lb and you will definitely need loaded rear tires and a heavy weight on the 3PH. Other than that, I'd say you are good to go. My rock bucket is much longer than a normal bucket (42"), so I lose even more than a normal root grapple, but I'm still very happy with it.

Got these weights from RootGrapple.com's root grapples. These were prices and weights from July '06. Prices might have changed but I doubt weight has.

Light Duty
$1175 63”: _500____LBS.
$1225 72”: _545____LBS.

Standard Duty
$1400 63”: __600___LBS.
$1450 72”: __650___LBS.

Heavy Duty
$1550 63”: _700____LBS.
$1600 72”: __760___LBS.
$1650 81”: _810____LBS

Depending on how you're going to use it, I'd be sure to get one that will hold up to the use/abuse you'll be putting it to. I use my Heavy Duty version with a lot of rocks and I think it would have been all bent up by now if I would have gotten a lighter version.

I am thinking the two thumb grapple would work better becasue you can close down on uneven items. I also agree HD is always the way to go with what I end up getting into.
So is my thinking flawed on the two thumb conclusion?

Do you have one of these monsters? Looks a lot like the worksaver. You have the larger model?

Slippy -- I don't know how much of hurry you're in or how much you want to spend, but if you can wait that long, the Power Show Ohio in Columbus might be worth visiting this winter. You'll find all kinds of things to add to your implement collection.

Slippy,

Yes sir I do and even though this one is a little heavy for my TC33DA it still handles it very good. I looking at swapping it for what he calls the J-rake which is a little lighter and I'll post the pics as soon as I see how well it works.
