T474 Weight

I am hopefully moving a few states south this fall. I have a 16' double axle car hauler rated for 7k lbs. I'm guessing my T474 weighs 3600lbs + 1100 for the backhoe + 1k for the loaded tires. That puts me at about 5700lbs. I'll guess my trailer weighs 1500lbs. Maybe I can transport my bucket separately to save on weight.
Does anyone have a better estimate on weight?

I would just comment that the spec base weight is 3230 - 3605 lbs without the loader. I assume the large spread is cab vs open station.
Assuming you have a front end loader....
The loader on my slightly smaller L4060 weighs in a at 1610 lbs with the bucket (331lbs). I would adjust your estimated machine weight up to 7300 lbs all in, which would be a problem.

Is there a scale nearby? If I had questions about weight on my tractor, I’d run the mile to the scales, and weigh It. Then I’d drop the FEL, and find out how much it weighs. If I had a backhoe, I’d drop it to find out how much it weighs.

For a T474, that's right up at maximized weight. I use my 2004 Chevy 1500 to haul mine, but I do not have loaded tires nor a backhoe. And my trailer is a 10k 20'', I'm 200# shy of my trucks max towing rate of 7800#, works good for the flat terrain I take my tractor to moving side jobs with. But if I had mountains passes I'd upgrade to a 3/4 ton.

Interesting topic - I'm sure there are ton of threads on towing weights but this one interests me because of my own T474.

I have the cab, loader and weighted rears.
I believe I've calculated it out to needing about 8000# axels or 4k each.
My issue is I only have a F150 with 5.0 in it. 9000# towing capacity.
For what it's worth, I'm not worried about towing it - it's about stopping it.
Again, for what my opinion counts, I won't pull mine more than a few miles without a F250 or similar.

Good to know. I don't have a cab but that's only a couple hundred lbs difference. I will probably end up having to use uship.

I have the same truck. The brake controller should be able to stop it. I have to drive through the mountains so my truck isn't going to be enough.

I have a 2000 Silverado 6 in lift with 35in tires. 5.3L Auto just under 300K miles. Trailer is 20ft 10K lb car hauler. T474,cab,loader, and backhoe. Truck pulls and stops(yes with brake controller) well-but works on hills. Trailer squats pretty good-not sure if an equipement trailer would handle it better? Old topic but relevant. Have you moved your 474 with your F150 5.0l a lot? Just wondering how it did and what trailer you have.

No, my FIL used his f250 and a 10k trailer. My f150 would have **** a brick going up the hills

My T574 is a bit bigger, but I did the math and decided I didn't want to buy a bigger truck just for the (hopefully) rare situations where I wanted to take my tractor off property. I have a stout trailer, but I made sure it wouldn't handle my tractor. This way I will not be tempted to 'try'.

I brought my new T474 home on a 7K-LB equipment trailer shown in my avatar photo this past Friday (12/22) when leaving the dealership about 60 miles away. My Tow Vehicle (TV) is a '21 RAM 3500 Big Horn CC 4WD LB DRW w/CTD HD Torque. Truck had no problem, and the electric brakes on both axles of the trailer worked flawlessly.

Trailer had me a little worried as my calculated T474 HST weight was 5146-LBS per the manual with the loader and loaded rear wheels (+838-lbs). I was probably over the GVWR by a couple hundred pounds as I wasn't aware the rear tires were loaded until I questioned it at the dealership. Had I had that info before I left the house, I would have went to a 'stouter trailer'.

I won't tow the T474 again unless it's on a 7'x20-24' Equipment Trailer w/5200-LB axles (MINIMUM) or better yet dual 7K-LB axles with electric brakes on BOTH AXLES! YMMV...
