Stuck yanmar 165D

Or maybe not. After all, most tractors do run - yet we still find things to talk about.
He hasn't even tried to use it yet....

I would like to know what the problem was with the replacement clutch and how it was made to work. There are a lot of YM155/165s out there using that clutch.

Unloading it this morning I noticed it is terribly hard to steer with that loader....set the bucket down, and it steers nice and easy. What can be done for that? As far as the clutch, I returned the one Allstatesag sent and got the correct one from tractorpartstogo. That one was a perfect fit. Tomorrow, going to drain oil again and take off oil pan and put in new gasket....forgot to do that before and it was leaking a little oil this morning after the oil was warm.

No power steering back then. But my guess yours is hard if not harder to turn being 4wd. Esp. with a good load in the Bucket. I have to be moving pretty much. I bought it for the cool to me factor! And yes it is.
That tractor will last you for Yrs. is my Guess.

The short answer is nothing. Don't ignore that having more weight on the 3pt helps the steering immensely. Also keep the front tires inflated The longer answer is Power Steering - except that Yanmar didn't offer it in that model. The smallest Yanmar with power steering was the next one up in size. And that one had rather "iffy" power steering in the form of a hydraulically assisted drag link... also known as "that leaky Yanmar steering". Some types of home-made add on power steering were tried, but I never saw one I liked. If I had, we would have put it onto ours.

Do not force it, set the bucket down and reposition, learn to use the steering brakes to make small easy steering adjustments, take smaller loads, and just be glad to have a loader at all. And above all, do NOT drive it in 4wd with a load in the bucket.

It's a tiny tractor basically designed to pull things, not work a loader. But in spite of that, we built two houses with our YM165D. So it can be done...just go slow with it.

Also, loader boom raises perfectly and bucket runs perfect, but lowering boom is slow.....I mean slow, like as in lowering under its own weight. The lever also is sticking, not sure if that has anything to do with it. Yesterday morning when I unloaded, the boom lowered just fine and went down as fast as it went up

It should raise and lower at the same rate. There's a wire screen in the bottom of the Rt. Hand loader upright. That upright doubles as your FEL oil reservoir. You may want to drain and clean. Look for the fitting at the bottom of the upright where the return line attaches. Make sure screen is clear and return hose not plugged. A good oil for that loader system is JD HyGard winter viscosity forever. Or any 5w30 motor oil for shorter term use.
You can use WD40 or PB blaster on the levers.

To see if 4wd is engaging lower the bucket so that it lifts the front axle off the ground. Engage low gear and 4wd. Drive forward a few feet with the rear tires causing the bucket to slide on the ground. That is so you can watch to see if the front wheels are turning. They should be turning if 4wd is engaged.

If the engagement lever is difficult to get OUT of 4wd don't drive it any distance in 4wd.

Like @rScotty mentioned, get some weight on the back end.

You can get wheel weights or add a drawbar lock and use front weights on the back.

Either brand works.

Wheel weights are good for traction and lowering overall center of gravity but won't unweight the front wheels to help with steering or other axle loading concerns.

The Old International BH on the Ford in my Prev. reply and Pic. is what I use for counter balance to lighten up the front. Super heavy so much it's easy to do wheel stand on the Yanmar YM2000 with it lifted.
