Canopy So, what's your daytime job?

   / So, what's your daytime job? #61
I've been in logging and construction since I was a teenager. My full time job is driving truck for my brother and all the fixing and maintenance that comes with off-road hauling. Part time is all the projects the two of us seem to always get into. This is MY truck. It may have HIS name in the door but that's only because he is older and has more money than me. image.jpgimage.jpgimage.jpg sorry about bragging, but comeon who doesn't like pictures.

My daytime job consists of getting up when I want, doing what I want or not doing what I don't want.

My employer is my bank account and the social security department.

Retired is my official job title. :D

Unix Administrator.

This is what I do as well, I have about 15 years experience in that position, first HP-UX, then Sun, then Redhat Linux on IBM Blades, latest flavor is Oracle Enterprise Linux on CISCO UCS hardware.

If the above line sounds gibberish, basically I troubleshoot computer problems.

Research technician at a land grant university, research on mainly cotton insects but also soybean, sorghum and corn. Plant, spray and count insects... Not real fun when it's 100* but it pays the bills. View attachment 389377View attachment 389379

30 years in Quality Assurance, from inspection to Engineering for the Semi Conductor Industry.

Started with Tractors only four years ago and now headed for my second tractor.retired then decided I didn't want to do any digging or snow moving.

Spent all my working life in engineering - 10 years Millwright/Stationary Engineer and the rest as a Marine Engineer (25 years sailing as Chief Engineer, deep sea, coastal, great lakes etc. on a variety of vessels). Now retired since 2005 and just loving it :)

I spent the first 35 years in the telephone industry ,,putting thousands of telephone operators out of work ,then somebody brought in technology to eliminate my job,, so I gracefully retired,,,during the last 24 years I have been researching the aerodynamics of golf balls and studying the effects of converting various alcoholic beverages into urine ,, both of these later endeavors have been greatly enjoyed
I don't know why I have had such a wonderful and interesting life

What's the deal with "canopy:"? It shows up in the list of current threads, but in my subscribed threads, it's just "so, what's your daytime job?" It also appers differently on the header, depending on where I open it from.

Probably an edit on the title after the create.

I was first a university professor and then I became the black sheep in my family by becoming an attorney. Being an attorney is a lot of fun, it provides a lot of freedom as I am self employed, and it also provides a sense of satisfaction as I enjoy helping people with their legal problems. It also gave me the skills to start a small ecommerce business that employs 3 people. All that enabled me to live in the country and figure out the fastest way to mow a 20 acre lawn, and clear a 1000ft driveway of snow was with a tractor.
