Spent all my working life in engineering - 10 years Millwright/Stationary Engineer and the rest as a Marine Engineer (25 years sailing as Chief Engineer, deep sea, coastal, great lakes etc. on a variety of vessels). Now retired since 2005 and just loving it :)

I spent the first 35 years in the telephone industry ,,putting thousands of telephone operators out of work ,then somebody brought in technology to eliminate my job,, so I gracefully retired,,,during the last 24 years I have been researching the aerodynamics of golf balls and studying the effects of converting various alcoholic beverages into urine ,, both of these later endeavors have been greatly enjoyed
I don't know why I have had such a wonderful and interesting life

Self employed over paid Auto mechanic.. At 59 its all I have ever done other than a year welding in a machine shop at age 14 and a couple in a body shop were I liked to starved to death...To make a long story short... I always wanted to be a mechanic but no one told me I was gonna have to do it till the day I died... I worked hard to earn the reputation of the highest place in town I don't figger to loose it anytime soon...I get to work for all professions they pay well and I like to work for folks with a degree card as long as they don't slap me with it...

What's the deal with "canopy:"? It shows up in the list of current threads, but in my subscribed threads, it's just "so, what's your daytime job?" It also appers differently on the header, depending on where I open it from.

I was first a university professor and then I became the black sheep in my family by becoming an attorney. Being an attorney is a lot of fun, it provides a lot of freedom as I am self employed, and it also provides a sense of satisfaction as I enjoy helping people with their legal problems. It also gave me the skills to start a small ecommerce business that employs 3 people. All that enabled me to live in the country and figure out the fastest way to mow a 20 acre lawn, and clear a 1000ft driveway of snow was with a tractor.
