Snow removal accident

Those cats do not tend to move forward once the power is at idle and on near flat terrain. I'd guess 90% of operators are not setting a brake when they get out. But if its rolling forward, you sure couldn't get me to try jump back in. Seems like that's asking to be killed.

Jeremy Renner is "hospitalized in critical but stable condition with injuries suffered after experiencing a weather related accident while plowing snow,"

Anybody know what happened?
Prayers for a full & speedy recovery
From what I read, he was pulling out a stuck car, and got out of his Snow Cat to speak to the occupants of the car. It appears that the Snow Cat rolled over him. I assume the parking brake was not set or defective...or some other freak event

Being a good Samaritan, pulling out the stuck vehicle of a relative, neglected to set his parking brake and machine began to roll. He tried to get back on and stop it but was run over. It was a mistake, but why do some take cheap shots at him because he was a celebrity? YouTube and others are filled with ordinary people making all kinds of similar mistakes. I've screwed up, been to the ER, but my name isn't famous so I haven't made national news. I will try harder - easier with increasing dementia.

I heard he tried to do something with the machine while NOT in the seat. That's always super dangerous. I saw a picture of Maybe standing on tracks, so maybe he was standing on the track. it's a pretty scary thing to imagine. He is some kind of a movie star by the way, is why he made news. If it was you or me no one would hear about it.

After reading about this accident it seems like Mr Renner did something stupid and subsequently recieved serious and life threatening injuries because of his actions. Who cares if he is a well known actor? I don't. I empathize with the guy. I have been injured with life threatening injuries, injuries that almost killed me. Bones sticking out, the works. It sucks. I know what it's like. For him and his family and friends. Just imagine how they feel. I'm sure he has a long road to recovery. How about we all try to learn a lesson. Make sure your machine is safe before you get off. When I have an implement attached that uses the PTO I turn off the tractor engine before i get off the tractor. It's a hassle but I decided I want to keep my bones intact and inside. Make sure your machine can't run over you or anyone else. Simple things that take a tiny bit of time to do but can save so much more time later. And save so much heartache when someone gets injured or killed.

It is my understanding that the pisten bully rolled into a pile of snow after the accident and I assume was not damaged, which makes this incident even more tragic and unnecessary.

Who here wears their seatbelt while operating there compact tractor?
Put mine on for the first time yesterday doing muddy slope work. but generally I stay pretty flat on known ground, no belt. In process of installing wheel spacers. How many of you are doing that to improve stability?

That’d be me. Not all of the time, but I wear it when roading, and when plowing or tilling on a sidehi.

No spacers, but my rims are at their widest settings. I also have wheel weights. My tires are weather cracked but when I replace them I will probably may have them loaded.

When i was a youngster, there weren't any belts on tractors. I figured you just jumped off away from the thing, eazy peazy.........

More like a 20-25,000 machine.
That will get you one with 7000 hard hours.

A new one runs $100-200k, depending on size and options.

He also was in the supportin role of most of the Mission Impossible movies together with Tom Cruise.

His was 1980’s vintage which go for around 25k. A trail bully which is comparable is well over 200k new.

Last year a tucker terra 2000 was 300k with a drag and I’m guessing the bully isn’t far off.
