SMALL TREES

A pair of pallet forks works pretty good on small stuff. Just set the forks about a foot apart and stab the ground ~ 2 feet before the stump at a slight angle. Continue pushing at a slight angle till you're under the stump. Use your bucket roll-back function to pop the root ball out.

Works awesome for transplanting shrubs as well.

Use the tines on your root grapple to slip under the front edge of the root ball and pop it out of the ground. Once you pop it out, level the grapple and move forward, as this will usual;ly sever any remaining roots, close grapple and take 3" tree, rootball, and all to your debris pile.

If you do not need immediate results, and your rotary cutter will handle it, you could also just shred the trees with it. The remaining stumps will usually rot in a couple of years.

I have cleared a couple of thousand feet of trails and access roads using the Rhino TW72 method. It works fast and the stubble will be worn off by the traffic in a very short period of time.

I have found a 3" dia tree is nothing for a rotating blade :D :D

Sometimes we just make things seem harder than they are.

I wanted to do the same as you a few years ago on about 10 acres and wound up renting a CAT D4 because I also had some larger 6"-8" trees. It worked great. CAT rental was about $1000 for a week. Since I finished the job in 3 or 4 days, I used the CAT to do some other stuff while the machine was here. Money well spent in my case.

Wen you say PAINT THE STUMP with roundup do you mean just the fresh cut or entire stump?
Just the cut part and mix the round up with kerosene don't know the ratio but since its not much total 50-50. The wood absorbs it much faster .

50/50 undiluted roundup with kero? Can I use off road diesel with the red dye to help mark the treated stumps? My willow and maple trees have a nasty sucker habit.
