You don't have anything on the top of the t-post? Are you not worried about them snagging that?

In addition to your excellent thoughts on protection, don't forget the eyes.

I am a believer inthe poly rope also. It is plenty strong and easy to work with plus it is visable. I have some tht has been up 5 or 6 years and is still good.

...

In adidtion to putting a cap on the T-posts, you need to make sure they STAY on. We had one come off somehow and a horse got a nasty gash in his side from the post.

My animals won't go near the fence or posts... you guys must have some pushy animals.

Mine will not go near the fence either. But the cap is also for me. :(

I have been known to run into and over my fence lines when mowing. I use brilliant white (as opposed to cowardly yellow) t-post caps for a nice visual reference. And I need all the help I can get visually.

My observation and experience is that some horses will not get a scratch even tho kept in an area with lots of old wire, stuff on the ground, lots of pointy things. Other horses will manage to get themselves hurt in a paddock that is regularly checked for sharp objects and is made of round pipe, smooth boards and all objects are highly visible and no sharp objects or obstructions of any kind. That's the nature of keeping horses...

Goats will go thru anything that you can imagine.... and some things you can't... along with being able to jump onto things you would not expect. Fence in your goats and your horses will darn sure stay home:D

6' may be an overkill but what the heck its your fence do it your way!

Most everybody has said it set the corners, pull the line and mark the post. T-Post in my part of the country come with the plate at the bottom, I use the FEL to push them to the top of that plate and thats done. I also have the ground person set the top of the post in the pin area of the FEL where the bucket or the quick atach is to keep the post from slipping or sliding out, always have them get out of the way! Worst case somtimes they bend if you hit a rock or the ground is extremly hard!

Somtimes a few get a little out of Plumb ... this fence is going on 5 yrs.
