OP,
Just Google your vehicle make model and year for TPMS reset procedure. I'll bet you can do it without any scan tools. B.

We had a series of vehicle rollovers that were attributed to low tire pressures because people were too busy or didn't know how.

That strikes me as unusual, so I google'd for it and found nothing. Where can I read about a series of roll overs due to low tire pressure in NJ?

Unfortunately the idiots got worse and now I guess we need fancier idiot lights.

Unfortunately, Idiot's don't pay any attention to Idiot lights. Just like they don't pay any attention on the spare that states Temporary Spare .And on my small car ,states 60mph max speed. I have seen these temp. spare tires on all 4 wheels going down the interstate at 70-80 mph

Not on a 2011+...They changed the drain-refill procedure to a scan tool sadly...Pretty soon we won't be able to do anything without a dealer visit for a re-set...Guess they think we're all panty-waisted-beta-males...I'll buy the tools just to prove the bed wetters who come up with this crap wrong...As far as TPMS we can thank Ford for that one, even though I disagree with the overall premise that caused this. If you are not capable of checking tire pressure, you have no business driving---ANYWHERE.

I don't disagree 1 bit

It's sad that we all have to suffer for the idiots that are out there. I don't know if that was ford's fault or it belonged to firestone. But we all have to suffer for it.

Neither Ford nor the idiots out there passed any legislation/regulations requiring TPMS.

True, but the whole case ended up giving plenty of plausible deniability on Ford's and Firestone's part..Ergo, laws enacted---much to my chagrin.

tire inflation also effects antilock braking an underinflated tire has a smaller diameter than one properly inflated, thus causing bogus wheel speed readings. regardless most people are too inept to check tire pressure themselves.

See post #29.

In the United States, the United States Department Of Transportation (NHTSA) released the FMVSS No. 138, which requires an installation of a Tire Pressure Monitoring System to all new passenger cars, multipurpose passenger vehicles, trucks, and buses that have a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 4,536*kg (10,000*lbs.) or less, except those vehicles with dual wheels on an axle, as of 2007.

Also look up the TREAD act.
