The biggest advantage of Black Beauty is it's less toxic to your lungs than silica sand. I haven't found it more advantageous for cutting.

Harv, Black Beauty is definitely a superior cutting media to silica sand, we actually make the effort to recover BB, whereas we wouldn't even try to recover SS. We have one machine that "self recovers" and with sand that unit was close to useless. Just take a look at the 2 media under magnification.
Membership, well, it became manditory, and Muhammad had to get me on as I again proved my personal codicyl to Mr Murphy's Law. "Contrary" that might just be a function of an eclectic knowledge base and Old Dad Time working on me.

This is a great thread. I bought a $100 presssure pot at TSC and have fair results with blasting grade 4 silica using a 2 hp craftsman compresor. This thread gave me a lot of ideas.

What if I run my Emglo 5.5 hp and the craftsman at the same time, and pipe them into the receiver close to the blaster?

Do ya think this would be enough air? I got frustrated blasting my forks project and ended up dropping them off at the pro sandblast shop.

Well, that would give you more CFM of available air, but you'd need to pipe the compressors into the common receiver thru check valves to keep them from interfering with each other's pressure switches.
Actually, I wired up a system in a body shop where there are 2 compressors, 1 is the priimary, with a second that kicks on line if shop air pressure drops below a preset point. I wanted to go with an alternating primary system to keep wear even on the compressors, but the owner wouldn't pay the extra for an alternating relay.
