Put in a new Battery, got nothin' - I am not dumb, but maybe I'm not bright?

I will not charge you with interference, not a terminal offense. Because starting was getting slower and its been in there for 4 years. Did not want to hit winter with a questionable battery. I live in Buffalo and use my LS to get the drive clear. Also gives me an excuse to drive the tractor in the winter.
ArArr: 'charge you' & 'terminal offense.'
Wish I was that funny!

All you have to do is find a known good 12v battery. Yours, friend, neighbor, etc.
Swap it in.
Another choice which I have done is if you have a Walmart with Auto center or any car parts store they'll test it.
Everyone should have a multimeter and know how to use it. A good charged battery should measure about 12.6 to 12.7 VDC. Verify that by checking your car or truck battery.
I'm really just repeating advice given here already.
As a retired 43 yr. electronic technician I can tell you most every problem is simple. Don't go on a wild goose chase.
Just yesterday I'm mowing with my JD455...running great, shut it off, then completely dead. I had a screwdriver with me.
Put it on + terminal, whacked it...nothing.
Tried -- terminal which swiveled a bit. Started/ran fine.

Three minute "fix". (I should clean terminal).

You say the ground is attached to the battery box?
Move it to the engine block or better yet is one of the starter mounting bolts

How about a pic with those caps pulled back??

Your problem must be something real simple right there at the battery. Hard to believe you have a new battery that's so dead it won't even light up a dash light or make something click -- but it's possible.

Someone asked if you put the battery cable ends OVER the plastic caps that come on a new battery post. Did you check for that? Is the red or black cap still on one or both of the posts?

I have a NH, and to start tractor, must be in neutral and you have to push key in while turning. It happened to me many times until I figured it out. Sometimes I was just pushing in key as coincidence, so it took a while. i also thought of plastic caps on battery...

He said nothing lights up though. Acts like there's NO battery in the tractor. Has to be something really simple right at the battery.

I try to check a new battery with a meter before I even leave the store because I’ve had new bad ones before. Even a test light could be useful here. A meter is better but a test light could let you know if it’s totally dead or not.
