I also accessorized the new tractor with a hydraulic top link. I can now adjust the top link on the fly. Makes attaching the top link to implements much easier. You may want to consider some type of quick hitch as well.

I am very new at tractoring ? What's this  :D. Thanks !

I posted in the introduce section but now i dont see it, Got my new "first" tractor and man is it nice. I used to run many differnt tractors as a kid and really like the manual shifter. So i got a 3005 and 300 HD loader "has replacable scraper bar" And got a great price. Just wanted to share !

I also want to buy a top for it, just for rain any suggestions would be great !

Congrats, looks great.

Great machine, the 3005!! I'm sure you'll get a lot of good years out of it.

Do read TBN threads on the 790s. There are pretty strong points to the tractor, but also a couple weak points (front axle issues...especially when pulling in reverse), That's not to criticize the machine (I had a 790 for 6 years), but just something to be aware of.

Also, if your dealer didn't provide a ballast box with the tractor/loader...spend the couple hundred bucks and get one. The 3005 is a powerful machine for it's size, but could use a bit more weight for loader operations and traction.

Good luck, be safe and always use your seatbelt!

Ya know I never thought to use my belt even one time yesterday but I am sure it's very prudent. Do people actually roll there tractors. Also thanks I will look for the 790 threads.

Yes, people do actually roll their tractors. As a new owner/operator, one of the forums you want to review is Safety.

Since your 3005 has a fixed ROPS, you should use your seatbelt all the time. I did...in fact, I felt very uncomfortable without using it.

Thanks will do ! If my tractor has a fixed ROPS, why does that have anything to do with wearing a seatbelt.

With a fixed ROPS, the seatbelt keeps you within the protective envelope (of the ROPS).
On a tractor with no ROPS, or has a folding ROPS folded, you do not want to use a seat belt...you want to try to jump from the tractor.
My current tractor (a Deere 4400) has a folding ROPS. I have to fold it to park it in my garage. The only time I don't have my seat belt on is when I pull the tractor out of the garage.

Oh I see, otherwise road pizza ! That would be bad. I always lean toward safety, run saws and pretty much a fixer type. So I will for sure wear my belt.

Thanks !

My first is a Kubota and a shifter. Same story about driving shift tractors as a kid. Was not too sure about the HST. My gear 'bota will push into material better than the same size HST or at least better than my neighbors Deere HST.

Any gear tractor will outwork a HST. The convenience of the HST makes me go HST on compact and gear on utility. Real work is not done with a HST tractor.

Just spreaded 30 yards of gravel. Looks like real work to me. :D

Just remember to keep your foot off the clutch unless you're shifting or you need to stop the PTO momentarily. Those clutches can last a long time, but abuse (riding the clutch) can reduce the clutch life significantly.

Speaking of the PTO...whenever engaging, have your throttle set at 1000 RPM (or a bit less) and use the foot throttle if the tractor starts to stall (as you engage). This will reduce any shock load on the tractor.
Same thing when you disengage...lower the RPM, let it settle for a few seconds, then use the clutch and disengage the PTO.

The 3005 also has an offseat PTO capability (if you use the tractor for a chipper, generator or other such implement). Read your manual about that procedure.

Thank you Roy. I appreciate your comments and help, but I am certainly not a clutch rider. I remember putting two clutches in my ex wife's Honda because of her inability to understand clutches. I won't have any implements until march so I hope to have some time to get used to her, yep I am already referring to my tractor as a her. :D looking forward to using some of what she can do.
