Well suffice it to say someone else wants this unit more than I do - I bid to $28K - my top end and it looks like it will fetch $32-34K or more. This is before the auction starts and the bidders are on site etc.

So, some mods are in my future with the B21 - the QA is first.

Looking at the ATI Tach All and HD plate for the existing bucket is $1400 delivered.
I think you dodged a bullet. Unless you can put your eyes and ears on a tractor, I wouldn't bid on one. Too many unknowns and the grey color filters was a warning sign.

If you're willing to either drive a good bit or have one shipped, I have seen a nice low hour one by me advertised for $26K for the past two weeks. PM me for the details and I will send you the link, or can even ask the guy for his number and pass on to you.

Most people don’t have their money ready for a good deal. Good deals go fast.

Flustrated after engine sucked an injector on the B20 and tried various other tractors and mowers for a year. Having other family users/operators on our hillside farm, safety was important. Blueberry patch, orchards , lawn and landscaping dream machine. Getting in and around barns and buildings. Looked at either used or new B26. Missed a couple used ones. Luckily found a like new, 50hour, less than a year old with lots of options from local rental place. Used saved about $8K from a new 2016 one. Wife enjoys it as much as I. Flower beds have lots of big rocks now. The biggest problem is once you ever have one of these TLBs, it’s hard to do without.

When I bought my 2502, I searched everywhere for a really used low hour B26TLB close to me and there were none to be found.

Here’s some pictures of my b21 today- it’s not clean but pretty good shape for 23 years and 750 hours - and I know the maintenance and what it needs - two hyd cylinder seal kits when it gets bad enough- just a few drips when sitting for a week.

Ordered the ati quick attach and plate today 1400 delivered so keeping this one.

That’s a rarely fine looking B21. Sweet! Looks new! Appreciate in value asset, get to use and enjoy it is the best kind of investment.

Surprise it doesn’t have a step on the left.

Our B26 was the first backhoe that had rubber outrigger pads. Don’t have that much pavement but was surprised how much traction they provided on ground. Also the extra height helped plumb on our slopes. Less damage to our landscaping.

If adding grapple be sure improve the front guard from sticks.

Please share your experience with SSQA.

Thanks for the kind words and its stored inside all the time and grease/oil and filter done per Kubota specs,

The step into the deck wasn't on the B21's and as far as the ATI Tach All - I am also concerned about the round back HD bucket I have and how a flat plate is going to mount.

I have a request into ATI now on how the plate will adapt to this TL2156 round back bucket and update once I get it and how it attaches.

Thanks for the photos! Wow! That is a beautiful classic tractor from an era when construction machines were made as good as they could be. It looks near new. I was expecting something entirely different.

Today I spent hours working my way through a legal letter on stock transfers from some California attorneys ..... untii l finally realized that what I was looking at was nothing but an involved fraud. Probably not technically illegal, but morally so most perspectives. A modern example of "deception through obfuscation".

So forgive me if I point out that nobody but the auction company really knows if their offering is real.
Auction companies are famous for exploiting people's expectations. In this case they are offering something so popular that any dealership could immediately sell it to their own customers.
The old saying goes, "If it seems to good to be true....."

On the ATI, I don't know their products. Are there competitors? Seems a nitch product. Smokey spent a lot of time upgrading his BH bucket attachments. We've also discussed ideas on improving FEL lift. For example, does your B21 have one or two hydraulic filters? Maybe we should start an upgrade thread for older TLBs?

Thank you Rscotty - its a work in progress, and yes the B21 has two hydraulic filters - one large 8" Long and one small 5", then the suction side screen inside the sump.

I heard from ATI this AM that the TL2156 HD round back bucket is "uncommon" and that the QA plate would need modification with a plate at the bottom. I would likely cut the existing brackets straight to fit the QA plate and then weld a spacer on the bottom.

I am considering a new 60" QA bucket instead of the $300 QA plate and mods as I need to have the local welding shop cut the brackets off mine and do the welding. I have a welder, but not the best, so I put my ATI Tach All order on hold - I'm in no hurry,

Modified an M5030DT loader 30+ years ago to SSQA. Similar HD round back bucket. Welded ssqa plate to the bucket pin-on flange plates without cutting them. Lost some roll back articulation and maybe some breakout force from having extended length from pivot point. Cutting the flanges and rewelding the plate was on to do list but never got done. Had too much fun with grapple and had other skidsteer buckets to play with. Adapter plates were $50 from Bobcat dealer at the time.

Lot of sources for SSQA plates now. $300 seems high. Lately prices have been a real shock. Could buy a used bucket for that.

Keep the B21. It can do 90% of what a B26 can do. Go Bigger or stay home.

Hi Carl: I can't comment on the black soot - but all the service on my L-47 has been done by our local Kubota dealer in Milford, NH (where I bought it). It currently has a white oil filter on it - but I seem to recall that they may have put a grey filter on it when they did an oil change. I will look thru my old photos to see if I can verify this. I would think think that if you could buy this machine in the ballpark of $25K - it would be a fair deal.
Friend just stole a 4 year old L47, with 750 hours for $40K, and that was a true good price. I would not sell my L39 for $30K

Mike - I am keeping mine - it now has QA FEL, Pallet Forks, 3rd function, Hydraulic Thumb, and a Grapple to help me out. Then added new 3PT adjustable arms to replace the old bent screw type makes putting on things a lot easier.

Yes, Mike agreed the B21 is 90% of the B26 thats why I decided to modify existing.

Snowplow this week and found it locally in NH for a decent price $1K - no hydraulics - manual adjust, but I have sourced the cylinder and hoses. Had the first run today with a light snowfall and it worked well - gotta keep some weight on the front.

If you keep it manual, keep an eye on the pin used to angle it. Mine kept getting harder to pull out and readjust the angle. Finally noticed the bottom end bent a bit so I ground the bump off. Works ok for now, and a replacement is on the parts list next time at the dealer. Jon

Everytime I see a setup like your photo of the snowplow, I look at those hocky puck sliders and I wonder,
"What if those two sliding pucks were castered wheels that rolled instead of slid, and located back at the SSA adapter plate instead of up at the blade...?"
Would that work better on grass or dirt drives?

Thanks - the pin was indeed bent, and the holes second one in Left and Right are elongated - essentially the webbing collapsed making the last hole an oval.

Was able to get the pin straightened and free, and then found the grease fitting on the center pin - never was used :) so now the plow swings free and easy.

Finding the cylinder was a chore - why did Kubota make a custom cylinder 13" closed x 19" extended with 7/8" and 3/4" pins? Then want $721 for a new one - ouch. Found a NOS on ebay for $200.. so all good now.

Finally got the new cylinder - took 16 days via usps to get here. Its an oem cylinder so fit very well

Also it’s winter and a good time to get the leaking piston on the backhoe stabilizer repaired - Kubota wanted $100 for seal kit - e-parts had them for 40 so got two.
