Just read this on FOX, possibly good news.

Oil plunged nearly 7 percent Thursday, heading for the biggest daily drop in dollar terms since the 2008 financial crisis, as concerns about economic growth and monetary tightening clobbered commodities.

Bearish economic signals came from data in Europe and the United States, adding to concerns that have battered commodities markets all week. German industrial orders fell unexpectedly in March while U.S. weekly jobless claims hit eight-month highs.

World stocks fell and the 19-commodity Reuters-Jefferies CRB index traded down 3.7 percent and was off 7 percent on the week so far, heading for its biggest weekly decline since December 2008.

"The longer-term bull cycle is still in place, but this correction may have a life span of several months, as weaker economic data is fueling this correction to a large part," said Sterling Smith, senior analyst for Country Hedging Inc in Minnesota.

Brent crude futures for June traded down $8.00 to $113.19 a barrel at 1:01 p.m. EDT (1701 GMT), the fourth straight day of losses, smashing below the 50-day moving average as the sell-off picked up steam after prices dropped below $120 a barrel.

Brent was headed for its biggest one-day percentage loss since April 2009 and the largest four day drop since May 2010.

U.S. crude fell $7.36 to $101.88 a barrel.

Trade levels surged, with volumes for Brent up 70 percent over the the 30-day moving average and 63 percent over the 250-day average in afternoon activity. U.S. crude volume was 23 percent over the 30-day average.

The disruption of oil exports from Libya, concerns about the supply impact of unrest in the Middle East and Africa, and the weaker dollar have sent crude to the highest level since 2008, with Brent topping $127 a barrel this year and U.S. crude over $114 a barrel.

Selling pressure on oil and other commodities came on several fronts this week, with investors weighing factors from the death of ***** bin Laden to the impact of higher fuel and commodity costs on the economies of consumer nations to monetary policy in major economies.

"Crude oil is selling off sharply for two primary reasons: QE2 is coming to an end in June and without a QE3 behind it, it will take liquidity out of the market, hurting risky asset classes such as commodities," said Chris Jarvis, senior analyst, Caprock Risk Management in New Hampshire.

"With ***** bin Laden dead, the market is adjusting the geopolitical risk premium down accordingly. Given this, speculative money is being taking off the table."

India's central bank raised rates more than expected on Tuesday, and expectations No. 2 oil consumer China could take similar actions helped push down prices on Wednesday.

The euro headed for its biggest slide against the dollar since November after the European Central Bank hinted interest rates were unlikely to rise next month, short-circuiting a rally that had driven the currency to a 17-month high.

You know that wont come as fast as they do when they go up!!

Yep! Gas prices can go up by 20 cents overnight, but if they go down by 20 cents in one night, it's probably due to numbers falling off the sign in a windstorm.;)

I had to go to Home Depot this morning and noticed gas down to $3.799 where it was $3.869. But 7 cents is better than nothing.

Lucky you, over the fence in Ontario is equivalent of $5.13.

One of the oil companies has an ad on that talks about how much oil we have in "north America", but if you aren't paying attention you might conclude he means in the U.S. The ad continues and is about the Canadian oil sands and how "we" can now extract the oil "cleanly" and "efficiently". I guess you folks in Canada are there to supply your southern neighbor's needs. I hope the "clean", "efficient" extraction doesn't make you wish for better neighbors.

:laughing::laughing: SOOO true.

Last night I had to get Diesel after work, $4.95. Regular was posted at $3.99, so it hasn't changed in the little town of Springtown TX, but they are usually up faster and slow to to drop here too.

A little cheaper as I drove through Dallas up to Allen, but like Bird noted, only by penny's.

Dennis, I filled both of our vehicles with the $3.799 gas at a Circle K. The 2 QuikTrips in the area were the same price, but I was running around in Lewisville and noticed other stations are still from $3.839 to $3.899.

Funny how crude goes up and the price at the pump goes up right away, not like there was a higher price delivery or something but crude has a ten dollar drop and diesel goes up .04 ! Instead of handing out $120 million bonuses they should stick a few oil exectutives in the pokey for price fixing/ gouging !

They've had so many years of experience at "setting prices" that they know how to set prices without going to jail. All they have to do is watch how the next guy sets his price and then adjust theirs up. So long as they don't meet and come up with an agreement, it's not price fixing.

My rough translation of the OP is the increase in gas prices stalled out the recovery so they are backing off again before they resume seeing how much they can squeeze out of consumers. Presumably, they want to shear the sheep as close as they can--not kill it.

Well, we have a 4 cent decrease after almost a week. Right direction but slow getting there.

I have to buy since I haul my own equipment to jobs, but I shop around and will patronize the places I feel try to be competitive.

News is reporting that prices will likely "drop" to just $3.50 gallon by July.

Hmmm.....wasn''t the price less than $3.00 per gallon just a few weeks ago?

Oil went down last week big time and diesel has stayed at $4.19/gal the entire time. Gas did go down to $3.99/gal it was $4.04. I don't see too much economic recovery when gas/diesel is $4.00/gal.
