Thx!

It was cheap, maybe 25$?
2x4x8 (x2) -had them
4 concrete screws 3?had them
3肺10ft pvc, cut into 10 pieces-3$
2肺10 pvcx1 had it (for small rod)
3 pvc conduit clamps x12- 20$
2 clamp 1.50$

You can also very the height of the PVC within the clamps and a stairstep fashion so that you can put the rods closer together, (preventing the reel handles from interfering with each other)

Getting the 3 point hitch mounted on the jeep
What a battle. Hitch pivots were so frozen that I had to use the backhoe bucket curl to break it free (although it did adequately test the mounting hardware)

Old hitch, This was also a three point hitch but different set up. I prefer the hydraulics coming from underneath with the new hitch.

New hitch, heavy bugger

Next, time to start the hydraulics.

Yes, Jeep was used to run a post hole auger in a past life (3 owners ago)
I also have several pto setups
1) rear 6 spline pto for implements (heavy duty)
2) front and rear pto for winchs etc
3) rear 6 spline, front pto for winch

Currently set up with #1 but likely will be switching to twin stick #3

Getting the new to me sawmill set up
Swing blade Peterson JP
Max single cut 6x6
Double cut 12” slab
Aluminum rails are about 19’

When I was shopping for a sawmill, I was gonna buy a Peterson. But, at the time, they were undergoing new management and all USA sales were on hold.
hugs, Brandi

The more research I did, the swing blade was a much better choice than a band mill for me
Very portable, storable, power and ease of maintenance/use.

Fits in the pickup, no need for trailer and logs don’t need lifting or debark

First cuts on some oak
Very powerful, I have some tuning to do but overall pleased

Plastic MD: your pics look much better on this forum than the other thread I follow so if you don't mind i'd like to follow this thread. WOW I like how easy that mill is set up and looks like it's doing a great job. I also like that cool old log lifter/hauler you've got.

any projects in mind for all that oak or just making lumber for future projects to be named later?

I’m a tool addict
Likely will have projects but it is more the journey

The quadractor is a cool little skidder for sure.
Machine cuts great, I just need to get it adjusted for repeatability and blade angle/ approach

I made the right choice vs band

Spent the morning tuning the saw (10+) adjustment points. Got it cutting true
You really can use most of the log, final 1”x6”

Ok back to the jeep aka “perpetual patina”
Started working on the hydraulic pump for the 3pt hitch. The prior rubber coupling was destroyed and there is no NOS. My Google food wasn’t working well and I couldn’t really find anything that I could substitute well so I dug through my pile of “treasures.”
Some sort of tag sale find??? 6 inch sanding disc (I don’t own a tool for this.) The rubber seemed to be a close match. The disc was only certified for 3000 RPM but that is at 6 inches not 4 inches (which I cut it down to.) Once it was cut to 4 inches the thickness seem to be appropriate but I had to place the holes for the coupling to the hydraulic pump and the slots for the crank pulley.

Will see how it goes. (Old part is one w zip tie holding it together for measurements.)

nice save on the pump, good creative recycling. Shows with right tools you can often make other needed tools.

Thank u

Got the pump in, all plumbed but shaft seal leaking like a sieve. Lift does function though.
Pump out and starting the rebuild.

Also scrapyard gloat today. 10pc 18”x42” 1/4 plate, 2 40” pieces of 3/16 channel and 2 10”x40” 1/8 plate
600# or so, 250$
Not a steal but online prices are well over 1500$ plus ship

Neighbor wanted to get rid of some trees that he had down. More lumber for the sawmill

Nice! Looking forward to seeing sawn planks from your score!

You do so well on your scrap yard deals. I am so jealous. None of the yards in my area allow sales.

Ugh, that would be terrible
Seems strange as scrap it is so low at this point in time, they make more off of the private sales and they do scrap value

Same here - not sure why they stopped, guessing liability?
