I will look to see what controller/motor he is using. 18'x10' high lift makes for a heavy chore.

Siding is vinyl. We love the look of cedar but to maintain it on top of a large log home, forget it. Going all red and pvc painted trim to match the red gives it that 'barn' look that is good enough for me. Farmers porch out back is now up (covered storage for large towable boom lift and blacksmith area.)
Rough electrical and 3 phase rotary converter in for shops. Insulation,drywall to start soon.

Uhoh new big shop disease
Shop isn't even done yet, new to me 10,000lbs 24.5 swing x72" monarch. Crane bolted to wall comes with it (to move steady and chucks). Fully tooled, aloris cxa, 5 chucks. Monster drills etc.better pics to follow soon once moved in a month. Also got a monster arbor press and 500lbsof broaching tooling(anyone need a key way?) also a big welding table with 2 vises etc
For reference, the headstock is nearly taller than me. The box to the left in bottom pic is a step to stand on when operating.

I've never seen garage doors installed like that before. Does it require something special on the springs since the weight doesn't get reduced as much as the door raises and the spring unwinds? Seems like it would run out of lift. Also, looking at the equipment, I realize what you mean by "shop" and what the rest of us think is not the same. :thumbsup:

Kenny, I'm not sure. Style is just called a high lift door. I can tell u this. With this option it is easy to hand lift the door as compared to the prior setup. The springs are massive. I would not want to mess with them.

Every shipping dock that I've ever been on, the doors go straight up.

Around here they almost always do roll ups. Not enough headroom for a vertical lift and they don't want the hardware sticking out into the building.

What are you going to make on the monster lathe? That's a brute!

king, I have a few things in mind, first is to re-bush the front idlers on a crawler I have. I also to start The shop move in, ihave to tap/ thread a whole bunch of 10 foot lengths of iron pipe for air lines. I have a couple other lathes but this is the biggest thus far

Here are the pics from today, first under the overhang, storage and smith area

Paint started in automotive/fab area etc

Woodshop, door to left is access to attic for wood storage, garage door opens to main area for forklift access, dust collector pipe will come up on right side near window, through floor. Once again, dust collector home is down in metalshop in closet. I chose to just run pipe exposed, running along ceiling with drops to machines. (6 and 4" pvc.) While not as "clean" looking, I have had clogs before and I don't want to be digging up in ceiling.

deere fits well under the overhang. a good place to drop off the backhoe attachment when I need to flail cut
2 crawlers and log arch will also be under there along with the blacksmith stuff

Only reason I ask is the above picture looks similar to one that the guys brother in law took out a couple of posts "Helping" out and not compensating for the loader when backing and turning.

Move is done. Next is to start reorganizing, air lines and dust collection and electric/heat install.
