Mahindra 2810
Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen. I recently purchased a Mahindra 2810 (2000 model) along with 5' box blade and bush hog. Great buy with only 432 hours on it and am loving learning how to use it. I came into 80 acres of wooded property and intend on building a house and moving out of Montgomery now that the wife and I have an empty nest.

In order to do so I am going to have to run a water main 1/2 mile from the county road to the beginning of my property by way of the easement road that I have to get to my land. I guess living back in the woods is a 2 edged sword. I guess my question is what would be my best option for running the water main. Tractor is 28 hp on PTO but looking at prices of trenching attachment is around $6k for new implement and that seems like too much for such a limited use of a tool. Curious about buying a used implement when I cannot ascertain the condition of one based on listing on the internet. I work 6 days a week with my job and so renting a ditch witch for use on a Sunday would drag the project out forever it seems.

Just throwing this out to everyone for suggestions as to the best course of action. Maybe there is an option that I am not seeing here.

I would hire that one out to the pro's. Need a mini ex and someonr that really know's how to run it.

A trenching attachment can be a very handy tool, and you may find you have other uses for it, too, especially when you start building a house, running sewer lines, perhaps buried electric lines, telephone, etc.

However, I suspect Murph is right; best bet is to hire a pro for that job.

How big is the pipe that you are going to lay? How deep does it need to go?. I suspect that the fastest way would be to use a ride on trencher lik an R40 Ditch Witch with a 6" or 12" chain as appropriate. Next fastest would be a Mini Ex. If your time is that limited, I think I would hire it done.

Welcome to TBN.

I'm with the "hire it done" group.

Are you land locked and that's why you need to work out the easement?? If so, you better get that figured out before you spend any money elsewhere. Whomever you get the easement from may have their own idea of how you're gonna get utilities there, including electric.
