Joined to get some help with a 1983 John Deere 318 I recently purchased, I want to change the engine oil and can't find drain plug. I watched some You Tube videos and all that I found had a access hole on right side of engine with a drain valve, I don't have that hole. Any help would be appreciated thank you.

There is an access hole in the tractor frame on the right side just above the tie rod. Brass valve and nipple. I put a 6” long piece of tubing on the nipple, I think it’s 5/8”, and open the valve with a pair of needle nose pliers. Many revolutions till oil comes out.

Thanks for the help I was able to figure it out, the oil plug was replaced with an expandable rubber frost plug type. I did get it out only to find that the threads in oil pan are damaged. Looking into repair options that I can do with out pulling engine hopefully. My 318 doesn't have that extra side hole for the brass valve.
