I figured the cold was your tractor's only problem..Cold is the enemy of a diesel

New problem now guys i had the tractor running the other day just putting around in the yard and the temperature light came on . How and were do i install a temperature gauge so i can make sure this thing is really getting hot and its not just a bad light sensor

We've been to this topic before. It's common for a new Yanmar owner to wonder if the cooling system is working properly. Sometimes overheating is caused by a bad head gasket or cracked head. Looking into the radiator cap and seeing bubbles would indicate this. The more common cause is the radiator is plugged with mowing chaff (exterior) or corrosion (internal). Replacing the radiator is an expected maintenance item after 30 years, you may have reached this point if cleaning it won't remedy overheating.

In my opinion money spent bringing the tractor back to Yanmar's original specs is much more effective than adding features that it doesn't need when it is running properly. Yanmar knew what they were doing when they designed these, they got it right way back then. It should be capable of running at full throttle / full hp output for many hours - running a ditch pump or generator etc, and never overheat. Spend the money to bring it back within spec and it won't overheat.

This $12 non-contact thermometer from HF is all you need to diagnose if the cooling system is running within spec or not.
