The thermal screws in were the Hex. screw plug is. TE-4550 YM1600 Thermostart Plug. Same setup I'm Prev. showing. I don't have the OEM tank part # Mine should be a HT-4460 which I'm missing also. Fredricks part #'s Looks to be missing fuel return line. Connects the two injectors together. Then back to the fuel tank. Look hard in my Pic. your see it.

Apparently that Yanmar was first sold in a location with a mild climate so it didn't need the cold-weather option.

If you have a heat gun - or steal your wife's hair dryer - prop it in place to thoroughly warm the intake manifold. Or prop it to push warm air into the air filter's inlet. This will duplicate the Thermostart's function.

White exhaust is unburned fuel vapor.

Don't use ether on these small displacement diesels!!!!! It can shatter the rings.
That is exactly the conclusion i came to. i was wonder what it would take to install the thermostart. the little module just screws in from what i can see and the wiring is simple. i just dont understand how the fuel drip stuff works or where to get one. i actually considered heating up the manifold with my propane torch but the tank was empy so i gave up for the night. today ill put fresh fuel in it and heat the intake. i had thought the guy before me put fresh fuel in it when he tried to start it but now looking at everything i should just start at zero again.

An old thread where I posted photos of the Thermostart flame then others added more information.

And - a box for the OEM Thermostart that I bought at a local ThermoKing (refrigerated-truck) service center.
It's a Perkins patent, long expired. The old Thermostart I removed has a Hitachi (?) logo on it.

These are inexpensive, about $15 - $20 on Ebay or Amazon for generics.

YIKES.
1st see if it is the belt, alternator or water-pump. Rule those out FIRST before tearing into the bottom end of the engine for the crank and bearings.

I believe you have a Injector problem. Never had my return lines off and tried to run it? They sure secured them to the Injectors. Clamped down so they don't come off. Does the Motor spin over easily when you try to start it back up? Oil light working?

Spinning it with compression released might give you something to compare that squeal against. This might just be a loose belt. Hopefully!

Air pressure squeal from the open injectors.

For those of you who have not seen my earlier posts I bought an old used Yanmar. It was supposedly just run out of fuel and the guy couldn't get it started again. Well, nothing is ever that simple. I found out the guy probably burned up the starter trying to start it, so I had to go on a small adventure to find one. Finally, find one and it works great. I turned it over and got it started after priming but then it slowly died after about 5 seconds. i even lost all sign of smoke out of the stack. so I crack the lines by the injectors and find I have no fuel pressure. I tried working the governor arm and taking out the pump to inspect it but idk what good pump and bad pump look like from the outside lol. anyways, I'm assuming its a bad fuel pump that finally gave way. Please, tell me im wrong because this is getting expensive fast. If it helps I could take pics I just forget in the moment. Thankyou guys for all the help you've been giving me.
Did you properly bleed the fuel lines from the fuel bowl head to the pump? Also a lot of times when it is run dry the filter clogs real bad. Bestfarmparts.com has the filter and oring.
