Since I was asked to make a video of the shifter popping out of range into neutral, I've logged about 45 hours of time on my tractor and it has not popped out of gear.
That is good it has not jump of gear recently.

That is a great idea, except I have other attachments to carry too.

Worse, all the trailer guys are in texas it seems and one, just one salt exposure makes the lousy, cheap powder coat paint explode off of the trailers because every trailer OEM is too cheap to use real automotive paint that could survive a mild saline-water exposure.

folks who know something different about trailer paint feel free to jump in as I'm in the market for a longer trailer with better paint.

I may have missed it, but have you decided on a new trailer yet?

Good to hear, Eric. Maybe the public shaming taught that shifter to cut out the hi jinx. :)

The stock commercial battery went soft on me and I hoped to replace it with a standard 31 size commercial battery. Sadly, the battery tray is only 12" wide and 31 series batteries are about 13" wide.

So much for winging in a Durastart or Optima YellowTop.

I'm having trouble finding a 950cca@ zero replacement battery that'll fit.

I would imagine that it isn't too hard to fabricate a slightly larger tray. I've seen people doing that on automobiles.

That or drop a 800CCA Group 24 in there. How big is the stock one, 650CCA?

Aaron Z

The battery tray is a relatively thick (for what it is) sheet stock that the radiator, oil cooler and AC condenser are bolted down to that has a battery-shaped, stepped down shelf fabbed into it that the battery sits in. Messing with it would be an adventure I don't want to go on.

Anyway, the battery is a sealed top and side mount 950cca (800cca @ 0 degrees) private labeled commercial battery with 140 minutes of reserve (almost as strong as a group 31 battery). I called the battery company ( A A Battery Company - Batteries | Minneapolis, MN ) and was told that it is a East-Penn battery and that Napa should have East-Penn batteries with the NAPA logo on them. The guy I spoke to on the phone thought the battery is a group 34. Group 34 sounds about right, but group 34 also means that a vibration resistant Optima YellowTop is a lower-output battery.

Anybody know of a good, vibration-resistent group 34 battery with 800cca at zero?

Edit: looks like a Napa legend group 34 fits the bill. Part Number: BAT 8434
