HST ...

Thumb is a rankin UAT-200 universal mechanical thumb. I expect to be using it quite a bit (picking brush outta ravines, moving/stacking rocks, etc). Looks like this (pic is of the UAT-100)

I'll have some "action" pics in a week or so /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Very cool. Remember the LOW AND SLOW motto.

I have about 70 hours on my 3130. It's setup as a TLB and I now wish that I had gone for the higher HP 3830. I also opted for the lighter weight GB 2175 backhoe and I'm not at all happy with it's ability to lift the back of the tractor, altho' it digs fine.

Three things.
1) welding the thumb to the dipper may be frowned upon by Kubota. In 12 months the BH warranty will expire so maybe wait 'till then? Just something to keep in mind.

2) there is never too much HP. The L3130 meets my expectations for a CUT. I got what I paid for. It suits my needs.

3) hopping trenches or lifting the tractor with a BH90 is possible but I doubt Kubota would recommend it. I suggest one would tweak the dipper or boom doing so. I realize commercial users do it all the time but their machines are far more substantial.

All the best,
Martin

It's being done by the dealer prior to delivery ... (wonder if they'll paint it up all purty /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif )

My thoughts exactly ... there may be cases where I wish I had the extra hp of a 3830, but that would be the case no matter what I got ...

well ...

it showed up today ...
The "delivery" from the dealer is also the "demo" (and time for _me_ to "check it all out").

kubota-small.jpg

(and yes, the FEL was "locked" into position)

But, it "failed" delivery checkout ... (aka "sent back" )...

The "thumb" wasn't meshing with the teeth on the bucket (an oversight I expect since its not a normal "addon", but still ...)

The hydraulic fluid was low ... ok, mighta been the cylinders were extended, but hooking everything up, compressing every cylinder, then it *just* got to the "low" mark. Someone missed THAT checkmark!

The 3ph parts had some surface rust from shipping/sitting. Not a big deal to lube up and eliminate, but ... shoulda been done before delivery.

The "delivery/demo" person from the dealer was NOT happy. I held my cool, cause I knew they would just fix it, but I think he was PISSED (and held his cool fairly well too). Me thinks someone gets and **** chewin in the mornin ...

Tommorrow ... it should be RIGHT!

Rob

P.S. This is a case of where lessor "dealer" mighta just dropped it off and then let *me* find the problems later. There was no question here about "we'll just take it back and get it right" ... I only had to hear the tone of the phone call to the owner of the dealership to know things will get taken care of.

Nice machine! Too bad the dealership didn't offer to send a service guy out to your place to take care of those issues ASAP since they are fairly minor - musta been hard to send it back without even getting a chance to use it. Athough the low hyd fluid would be a critical reason to send it back if the delivery guy didn't "happen" to have a few spare jugs in the truck.

haven't gone for a weigh ... the bh90 is heavy ... actually balances really nice for FEL work so far.

I know I paid a "premium", but 2 dealers quoted pretty dang close ...

the thumb

and bucket additions
bucket-small.jpg

have been proving very useful ...

I should had some forks or a box scraper thrown into the deal ... oh well.
