Moveable/Removeable Lights

Well the 200 jobs weigh 1/2lb and the 500 amp jobs weigh over twice as much so I was hoping to get away with the lighter,cheaper units but if they are falling off I will go for the bigger units. Just wanted to know which ones Harbour Freight is selling....

It is likely that the HF units are not an exact match to any of the units you may see at a welding supply house. The heavier amp rating may or may not come with a stronger magnet as it is not the magnetism they are rating.

HF also sells lots of strong magnets. If you go to HF in person or on the web, look at some of those. You will have to supply your own attachment method, u-bolts or bolts and wood scraps to make a clamp/holder or whatever. There isn't anything "MAGIC" about the welding magnets, they just have a threaded stud sticking out that simplifies attaching a light. If you can figure out how to attach one of the other magnets you might get a stronger magnet for fewer bucks.

I've been following this tread for a while and I havn't heard anyone mention magnets from NAPA.
They are made by Grote and are made just for worklights. Just got a pair for $8.00 . Check out the link these things have an 80 lb pull!

Thanks, man, whoda thunkit, magnetic light mounts to use for magnetically mounting lights. No muss, no fuss no big bucks, and tooooooo easy!
