Massive storm clean up

If you don’t have the Husqvarna gas/oil can, get one.
I'd love to find one. Have been keeping my eye out for about 2 years now. Rarely, I seem them on Amazon, but they want something like $145 for them. (I saw one from Italy that I almost pulled the trigger on at $71, but then noticed the shipping was $52.) At that price, I can live without one. I just can't find one for a reasonable price available in the US.

Well, I spoke too soon. I just found one from the UK on eBay with free shipping for $76. Still more than I want to pay for a fuel can, but having used one belonging to a friend and really liked it, I decided to place the order.

If anyone else is interested, here is the link:

$76 is less than $189 I see another seller was asking.

Best I've seen in 2 years of looking. I ordered two. One will be donated to a fund-raising auction for a wildlife and forestry non-profit with which I'm involved.

Another good day, but suffered a setback, at 2pm, while dragging a log sideways, we sheared a pin. I heard it snap. It holds both the bucket and the thumb to the dipstick.

We were 98% done with hea y logs, so I decided to jhave the tracked skid steer delivered, they will pick up the 315D on same trip.
Very pleased with the Cat Excavator. Did an amazing job overall.

Ouch. Jon

Nothing a little JB weld couldn't handle 😆!
I can only imagine the work that pin did for you not to mention before. Looking on the bright side it sounds like you have the biggest part done before. 👍

I wonder how this repair will be handled. Will I be on the hook for the entire repair, or part of it.

Not a big deal as heavy iron goes. I have seen the dipper stick crack on some of the Cats, a bigger pain but repairable as well.

Nothing harder on equipment than messing with trees. Hopefully only hurt the pin.

Trees or rock quarries the worst?

Did you opt for damage waiver insurance? That would cover it. No waiver it will be the dealers call. Not too bad a repair though.
Pin, bushings, snap rings ~ $500 in parts.

Well the situation is just fine. Company owner is a guy I have done biz with for years. He said it cracked from fatigue. No charge to me.
The Cat 299 skid steer was dropped off and the excavator went away. Today was the start of the ground cleanup of all the branches. There’s a few logs left.

As you cane see, we broke through the lower tree line in places.

It’s nice to see dirt again, lol.
Some areas are actually looking like they might be ready for seed, and its a perfect time to lay down seed.

We are pushing up massive plies of brush, which sets up for weeks of brush chipping. Which I hope they will decide to have me do.

Off in the distance, you can see the storm swept up the valley and destroyed many more trees.

State had a contractor clean up, chip up, branches from a tree that had fallen across our road, maybe in that same storm. The day it fell they brought large loader with grapple and piled it in my neighbors front yard.
They used a little ride behind tracked grapple machine to pick up and feed into the chipper, which I didn’t get in the picture.

Can you get a drone shot of the cleanup area?

The property manager does have drone footage. I could try to get a couple aerial shots, but they were right after the storm.
Would be cool if we could get before & after.

Those little ride on tracked dingos are a chippers best friend.
