Anyone ever make something to tote logs on the 3 point?(sideways, not drug behind) I used the 3 point on my BX2230 to load a sweetgum on my trailer this weekend (roll log onto 3 point, chain and lift, then back onto trailer and drop wood), and while it worked well it was a pain getting them on the 3 point to begin with. I was thinking something that extend out and down just a little would really help.

For clarity, we are not talking about huge trees. Biggest would be a ~16" diameter and 6 feet long (~400 lbs for sweetgum, 450 for red oak according to the wood weight calculator at http://www.woodweb.com/cgi-bin/calculators/calc.pl).

A picture of how you did that would be great.
I would use either my forks, or use my 3pt carry-all for logs as you want to do.

I use a carryall for that purpose. It works almost like a forklift. Roll the logs onto the horizontal legs, lift and drive over to the trailers and roll them off. Carryall is about $80 at TSC....

I can take a picure next time...those logs are already unloaded.

I thought about a carryall, but the nice thing with just using the three point is when you lift it helps hold the log in place because of the angle, then to unload you turn around, pop the chain loose and drop the 3 point and the log rolls off. That is what got me thinking about making something with a curve/bend in the lifting arms.

I'll go by TSC and check out the carryall, though. If it works for you guys that is probably all I need.

Found this on ebay...be easy enough to build one that'd work sideways..

Boy, that's a unit, isn't it? Hydraulics aren't really an option on the BX, though, at least according to what everyone says about the GPM on those tractors. Otherwise, a hydraulic top link with a carryall would be just about perfect.

Hydraulics and a 3PT weren't an option on a '45 WC either...but no one told me that....but I added em anyway!!!
As far as the link...I just did a Google search for "3PT grapple"...I'd do it again but I'm outta time.. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
