Anyone else concerned about the durability of Kubota steering wheels. (B & BX series at the vert least)

Are they just plastic or is there some steel underneath with a plastic covering?

I have a tendency to grab the wheel to hoist myself on, and us it as something to grab when I'm getting down as well.
I can feel it flex some when doing this, which is why I have this concern.

Could anyone shed some light on this?

as always, thanks in advance.

I don't know about kubota steering wheel construction but I do fine it to be very unconfortable after a couple hours use. Too hard.

I have a BX2200 with almost 200 hrs on it and never found this to be an issue. Are you "yanking" on the wheel when climbing on??....it's much smaller than your car / truck steering wheel and isn't meant to be pulled on hard if that's what you are doing. I would imagine that it has been engineered to meet OSHA standards.

I never use my sterring wheel to hoist myself up into the operators chair. Steering wheel is not designed for that. I have read posts where folks feel they have damaged their steering wheel by using it that way.

Mine looks cheap (L4400, which is an 'economy' model) but is holding up okay after living under a tarp for over a year. The black is a little faded, adding to the cheap look, but it feels sturdy and functions fine.

No, I wouldn't say I pull on it. Just use it as a handle to stabilize myself when getting on, and when standing on the tractor when mowing tall grass. (better viewing when huntin' for rocks)

Though I can feel it flex a tad, no where near as solid as the steel rubber coated wheel on my old Farmall Cub.

I have used the steering wheel on my B7500 as a "getting on/getting off assist" for 3 years and 560 operating hours without any indication of a problem, yet.

If you want a better feel to the steering wheel wrap it with bicycle handlebar tape.
