If they are tight/rusted enough that they won't break loose with a 3/4 and a cheater bar is is better to have them cut off with a torch and put in new bolts. I have read advise to replace the bolts every time the nut is taken off for safety reasons. You sure don't want to use a damage one because flying blades aren't much fun. I usually sharpen them with an angle grinder while they are on the machine.
The NUTS were remove last winter, thanks to a friend. That took him and a 5' piece of pipe to bust em loose.
I just came in from getting the bolts pushed out. My method did work. Drilled a hole in a piece of 2x4 and slid a 3/4" extension bar through the hole. 2by is used to hold the extension on top of the bolt so I could hit it with the sledge.. It took a 10 or 15 swing for each bolt but they are out and the blade(s) are off. Can't find one of the blades, but I'm sure its under the bushhog. Looking at the blade I took off, I think I'm just going to get new ones.
