hot water heater install

i am in the process of adding on the house and doing most of the work myself.
i am installing a new electric water heater on a slab and do not want to set it directly on the concrete does anyone have any creative ideas with pictures!

I assume you want to get it up off of the slab because of any water problems in the future ?

In my basement I just used 2 -18"x 18" concrete blocks to raise the hotwater slightly off the floor. I dont have a picture but I think you get the idea !
My usit is a 50 gallon free standing unit. Is this the same type as your using ?

No pics, but I've seen them set on bricks, one under each foot of the heater -- simple, cheap, durable.

thanks for the replys that is what i was thinking of doing 3 bricks or blocks just to get it off the concrete to prevent the unit from rusting due to condensation. and yes i am using a 80 gallon free standing unit.

You can get plastic and metal pans that go under water holding tanks. When I installed a new water holding tank in my aunts house I picked up a pan that goes under it. This keeps if off the concrete floor.

I've always put a piece of polystyrene foam about 1 1/2"-2" thick to keep the cold concrete from sucking heat out of the water heater.

Dont forget to plumb the pressure relief valve in.

Fortunately you don't have to worry much about earthquake strapping. I go along with birdhunter1 and recommend the insulated pad to keep the tank high and dry above the concrete.

+1 also pipe relief to with in 6" off floor with metal pipe ie. copper, not plastic

In California code requires gas fired hot water heaters to be 18 inches off of the floor in garages. Home Depot sells a galvanized steel platform with 4 legs that is 18 inches tall. Not sure if this will work for you.
