Scott, Trumble in Detroit, MI you load right beside the tank for Type 2 roofing tar. 450°F.
BP in Toledo,OH loading slurry oil in between the tanks and the wind blowing in off the lake in winter made that one cold place to load.
Imperial Oil in Nanticoke, ON their racks were all under a cover. 6 for asphalt and 6 for fuels.
BP in Bronte, ON you loaded beside the tanks, 8" gravity pipe. You sure could load fast there.
Petro-Canada in Etobicoke, ON one rack with two loading pipes and you were out in the open.
When I first started hauling tar we could load in a T-shirt and never grounded the trailer. As time went on it was mandated that we had to wear long sleeves and work boots with the pant legs over the top of the boots. Now most of the terminals (BP, Esso, PC) insist you wear Nomex coveralls, hard hat and face shield along with the heat resistant rubber gloves. I've had one asphalt burn in my 38 years of hauling, and it was my own carelessness. Just a small burn not like the guy that trained me. He got it right in the chest and belly. He was off work for a year. That was his own carelessness too. Anybody I train on asphalt I tell them the same thing, "Familiarity breeds contempt." There are no shortcuts when it comes to hauling tar. You think boiling water is hot at 212°F? Try tar at a minimum 300°F. At 275 the tar doesn't flow very good. The past 10 years I was hauling chip seal oil or what we call high float. Maximum temperature was 165°F.
Do I miss it? Yes and no. I got more done this past summer at my own pace than I have ever got done in any summer before.

Good (Saturday) morning. Overnight Low of 5.2C and it's presently 18.7C [13C wind chill], mostly clear with a strong/gusting wind. There was 3.4mm in the gauge @0900.

Today could be the end of this wind 'event'. I'm getting tired of the gusts that make my house creak day & night. If things do calm down I'll take a survey of "Wagtail Park" to assess any damage. I can already see a big branch that's come down from a Council 'road tree' across a Paddock #5 fence.

That's about it, take care all.

good morning all
up early at the Delaware shore
bad weather coming in later today but I should be able to slip out early enough.
lots to do, this morning need to pump and clean tanks, and clean the bathroom and kitchen while I have running water. RV will be winterized when I get home so need to get it clean first.

don't have to worry about nav directions today...route 1 is outside campground and it goes all the way North into Pa. Going to try to leave at daylight
coffee is good but got grounds in the pot.

Bill, when I back up my mailbox is the easy one to see, on driver's side.
Can't see neighbor's mailbox at all.
interesting part is he installed it two feet over the line on my property, by honest error, no one knew where the line was, but now it's that much less maneuvering room.

going to dump some cleaner chemicals in grey tank, then take the longest shower I can to fill up the tank. What I should do is then drive the rv and let it all slosh around. I never do, nor do I do that with the black tanks, whose level meter has read full since day I got rv. Going to dump some magic stuff in septic tank and then run the toilet to fill that tank up more. Then a major pumpout when I'm all done.
And once I have left Delaware with such a nice deposit, I will head North.

windy out, can hear the wish-wish-wish coming through vent fan

Happy Saturday everyone.

Coffee is done brewing. 46° mostly clear skies tis morning. Heading to 62° with cloudy skies. Not much of my plans for yesterday got done. Found a lawnmower blade sharpener on FB Marketplace. It was 20 miles away. Easy trip except for 2 road closures along the way. Which added about a hour to trip. Cleaned it up and sharpened one set of blades. Make it very easy to sharpen the blades. Started to get rest of the support poles out. Neighbor needed help getting hedge trimmer running. By the time I got that fixed it was time to call it a day. Back at getting garden pond net up today.

Everyone stay well and safe.

Good Morning All.

Drew, I replaced the tank monitor system on my motorhome with a Seelevel tank monitor. Replaces the whole panel manufacturer installed.
Also installed a valterra hydro-flush on black tank. This may also fix current black tank always reading full.

Good morning, the low is 48 and going up to 59°F Wind E 7 mph. 40% chance of showers.

I confirmed with my other customer and he wants me to plow his snow this winter for the same price as last winter.

Tractor is done, but not delivered yet. It was the number three glow plug. They haven't sent the bill yet either.

I think today will be an energy conservation day.

Drew, if the neighbours mail box is indeed on your property, I would not care if I hit it or not. Being your mailbox is on the 'clear side' stay out from it about 6' and with your 4 way flashers on (which should be on from the time you cross the center line of the road) just back up and carve it around the box. The size can be intimidating IF you let it.
If you can handle big boats on the water with no brakes, then you shouldn't have a problem with a little 8' wide vehicle on land. You can do it! I have faith in you!

Have a safe day all

Forgot to post photo of Blade Sharpener.

sweet
in the middle ages I think I could have been the guy who went around
sharpening knives and axes and scythes.
I know an extra sharp edge is not durable usually so wonder with new
hardened blades, how they sharpen and hold their edge.
but even if not durable the first mow on those super sharp blades seems to have a different sound to it. And possibly imagining things....
