mowed the lawn starting one minute after noon, then pushed trim mower, came in soaked in sweat.
waiting to stop sweating so I can take a shower.
getting out of a shower while still sweating isn't fun

picked up a few things for myself yesterday, including pickled beets and some applesauce, and one
gorgeous tomato

Afternoon all!
Currently 80 and sunny. Nice summer day. Bit humid as to be expected.
Drive way was finally done on Friday!
Busy morning. Got our walk in early and then had to run a few errands. Got back home just in time for sister to call about mower won't start. Luckily just a stuck safety switch. Easy fix!
Front yard looks pretty good for all the heat we've had.

Nothing planned for the rest of the day except maybe some shop cleanup. Managed to get a black locust burl turned into a hollow form. Dyed it with yellow and orange ink before covering with clear.

Time to go sit out on the porch with some water melon!
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy.

Thunderstorms in the forecast later PM and evening, in fact rain in the daily forecast for the next week

Making wife comfortable and helping out. Nice drive through the forrest on winding narrow road

Worked on preparing to brace a wall. Dug out an area with a trenching shovel. Slow going and hot. Taking breaks to go inside and cool off. Replaced a 10 by 12 inch pane of window glass now that my smashed finger has recover a little.

Need to move over some gravel and find the tamper to get it compacted.

Cut out some white flashing as temporary protection from rain water

D's event apparently went well although she cut her foot on some glass she stepped on

Plan to go to a contractor supplier tomorrow to get a bunch screws and lumber for the wall repair
May cost more than HD or Lowes but will be getting what I need

Boiled scrimp and icing them down in a glass bowl to stop the cooking leaving them tender

Drew, I have a very old blurry picture of me at the Kitchen Kettle when I was 17. I love the food at most of the places up in that area.

83 deg, feels hotter, humid.
Now looking at Mr Cool DIY hyper heat ducted system, has outdoor unit, lineset, and inside air handler. They have 35 ft and 50 ft precharged linesets. 35 is probably very tight, so would rather coil unused then come up short. My worries about them are the screw connections, and future leaks. Sure are more cost effective if you can do the install, and I am capable. Sure wish my deck was done before starting another project, been so hot to work outside and inside.

Good worship, and good meal after at our usual place. I haven't been there in 4 weeks with traveling. They were very busy today, 18 in our group.

I got picked for a census survey, lucky me. very intrusive survey, with a lot of questions they really have no business asking. anyway, got that done. They been pestering me for several weeks. Sure wish there was a feedback question where I could tell them what I really thought....

We finally got a raincloud to pass over us, got almost 1" of rain last night around 9 pm. needed it.

cantalope plants died, one totally shriveled up in a couple days, now the other one is dying. Looked like a microscopic black insect cutting the stem where it's planted. did spray it with sevin, but probably too late.

89.2F @ 03:15, some passing clouds with the sun.

Came inside for a quick little break and a refill on the liquid.

Woman back inside now, She had been working on weeding the strawberries … now it looks like She’s preparing some to eat …

Refilled hopper feeder also scattered some seed for the ground feeders.

Took dump cart up and emptied it @ the compost pile. Unhooked it and rolled it to the south end of the garden down the bean aisle and loaded it up again with all the weeds that had been pulled that were piled down there. Been rolling it north ahead of me as I plant the wax beans.

Got 78 wax beans planted in 3 rows so far … that’s a little better than half of the planting space available.

Also got some strawberry runners that had rooted down through the weed block fabric moved to proper planting holes.

There probably enough of those left to fill a raised bed if I had one ready to go.

Not looking like much in the way rain developing …

yes, but he said that is a $40K solution for a mitsubishi. He said no one has bought one from them yet.. I aint got that to spend, so will do $15K for a old school Trane unit, which is still ridiculous in my book.

Sorry about your drummer.
I guess even Tranes have gone sky high. 3 years ago you could get an inverter heat pump trane installed for much less than $10 K.

71, light shower popped up. Going to 90.

Sitting here icing my shoulder. Using AI to "diagnose" the problem and show me some PT stretches.

Had a hot but good hike yesterday so Della could take a swim. Then made a diesel run and mowed for 2.5 hours...grass never fully dried due to a week of rain and high humidity.

Ron, sorry about the smoke. There has also been 2 big wildfires north of the Grand Canyon...AZ closed the only highway into the North Rim and across northern AZ. My wife and I spent some time there and hiked the Canyon from the North Rim, so we have been following. There is an Arizona Trail thru-hiker at the bottom heading north to meet her mom and baby as this unfolded...waiting to hear an update.
Hope your shoulder problem subsides. I have dull shoulder pain and can hear things poppin just working out with 8lb bar bells in each hand. My shoulders were destroyed by a Ciproflaxin related antibiotic about 8 years ago. I read that the damage is permanent, but my shoulders have come back to maybe 75% thank the Lord.

Wonder what Popgadget has to say about these? Wonder if it would work in my double wide MH? I have a downdraft ducted system.
About 30 years ago, I had a buddy who lived nearby that was an HVAC salesman, he knew all about systems and how to use different parameters to figure out the size of unit a home needed. (He told me on the side, that after all the calculations, "Most normal homes need an average of 1 ton per 500 square feet.") While my home has 6" outside perimeter walls and suppossedly corresponding insulation, it still takes my 4 ton unit running constantly from around 3pm to 9pm on a hot summer day to hold 78F. My electric bills are near $350 in the summer, and with strip heat coils (only source of heat besides the old school fireplace) the dead of winter is not much cheaper on electricity. My old Trane is about 12 or 13 SEER. Because of how long my current unit has to run, I would consider going up to 5 ton. Home is about 2150 sq ft. I'm thinking a unit like this could save me a bit every month. Just wondering about how much?

Popgadget, prayers for your drummer friend and family. Doesn't sound like he has much time left. If it were me, and the docs told my wife there was no hope, I'd hope she would put a DNR on me.

We got a storm today, and the Texas Hill Country got another big rain. Not sure how much the Guadalupe is flowing, but the other rivers just north of it are flowing like crazy. We got an inch, but the Hill country got anywhere from 3-9" depending on where the gage is.

Really sad stories coming out of the flooding situation. Still so many more unaccounted for. I hope today's flood doesn't cover up the holes that they've been digging to look for victims. I saw a 1/2 ton truck on it's side, completely covered in river rock with only the sides of the tires barely exposed.

newbury, hope the Generals take note and not look for high priced drones. They could find themselves front and centered in the Sec Def's office if they don't fall in line.

Phil, beautiful wood work as always.
Ron, how is your walk form going? Do the goldfish freeze the whole winter long?
gstrom, nice old truck project. My uncle had one of those that I got to ride in quite a bit as a kid.

Thomas, a lot of splitting there. Put feet up soon.

I'm fighting a stubborn stuck PTO shaft that won't telescope. I actually chained it to a tree trunk and yanked on it with the 7000lb tractor. No luck. Decided to put some of the old transmission fluid I just changed out on it to let it start seeping inbetween the tubes. Capillary action is one of the strongest forces there is, I've been told by an engineer. Need to go dribble some more on it. Then, I will try to collapse it first to break the static rust, then hopefully pull it apart, de rust it and grease it. Guys, grease your PTO shafts so you don't have to deal with this. I bought this off an auction many years ago, and it was stuck then.

Ken, I wish I lived nearer to you guys up there. I'd have pulled a Dew Drop Inn on y'all for the party. :)

Scary AI situation, where they copied the Secretary of State's voice and were sending it somewhere....

Prayers for Bupps and Holly, Ted and Dona, Those that have lost loved ones. any others that are hurting.

Ron and Don, my mom treated us to the Paige Roadhouse after church today. I remember when Ron and Betty were down and we met there for a really nice evening. Good Memories.

Cipro makes me nauseous.
Lowes carries the Mr Cool units. I'm seriously considering one. woodchuckdad on TBN put in 2 of the wall units on his build, don't think he's had any trouble with them. Several of the youtube people I follow have used them.
For the ducted systems, you can modify for downdraft, they are built modular to be ran any direction.
I got a pto shaft apart once by chaining to a tree and pulling with tractor. The tree died after that, guess it disturbed the roots system to much. Was a white pine too close to my barn so I don't miss it at all.
