Good Afternoon Don,
Good luck with your car purchase ! Did you give any thought to a Hybrid rather than all electric?
My wife Kathleen has a Honda CRV, I like it but a friend of mine has the same car but with the Hybrid option ! Of course you still have the battery issue !
If you both sell your vehicle at 8 years, I'm thinking the non-battery vehicle will bring more, unless he has spent all his gasoline savings on a new set of batteries. I did own a Prius for over 120K miles and the battery was starting charge differently than when new. I don't have anything against hybrids or primes especially if you live where gasoline prices are high and you drive a lot. The prime would have made sense (many short trips) for me but the upfront cost were high. Soon some form of battery vehicle will be all that is available.

Good Remembrance Day (Monday) morning. Overnight Low of 6.3C and it's presently 20.0C [heading to 24C], clear & calm.

It's going to be a busy day today... Remembrance Day parade/ceremony @ 1100 (yes, once again, I've been tagged to be the "Parade Commander"😮).

The arvo will be spent fixing a different toilet at the Church (old & leaking inlet gasket) followed by a, somewhat unexpected, Parish Council meeting this evening.

Oh, and the 3rd (of 9) ute load of wood arrived this morning. Let the annual "Wood Stacking Festival" begin!

That's about it, take care all.

Good Evening Don,
So with our 2020 CRV on a trip, Vermont for example, we can get as good as 36 mpg ! My friend who owns the CRV hybrid states that he has gotten as good as 46 mpg ! So I’m not sure without doing the math how much savings we are looking at ! For the amount of driving we do I’m quite happy with 36 mpg !

BTW, I did my margarita repetitions today ! 😉😀

I remember several years ago comparing an Accord standard to an Accord Hybrid, and the Hybrid only got 1 MPG better, and costs thousands more. That convinced me not to buy a hybrid. My subaru got around 35 MPG, my Mazda now is about 33 MPG. I would do a hybrid if the numbers were there, but they haven't been for me.

finally got .13" of rain this afternoon. Wonder if they will lift the burn ban. Saw they were busy putting out many backyard fire ring fires the last couple of days.

I’ve got a Prius Prime, the lifetime mpg for almost 40k is about 185 mpg, as I do a lot of driving within the EV range. If I compare mi/kwh it’s like buying gas for $1.25 per gallon at my electric rate. The typical mileage running as a Hybrid when the EV battery is depleted is about 70mpg.
This is my 4th Prius, they have been the most reliable, lowest cost of ownership cars I have ever owned.

Have you ever had to replace the Li batteries?
I know on the RAV4 the hybrid model the up-front cost is $3K more and the battery pack is between $3K and $8K when it has to be replaced.

I replaced the Hybrid battery on my first Prius at about 180k miles. I did it myself, and bought the battery from Rock Auto for $1200. Prior to that the only maintenance items replaced were the 12v battery, wiper blades and light bulbs. Not even brakes.

Drinking first cup of coffee. 49° with cloudy skies this morning. Heading to 53° cloudy skies and winds. Got .89° rain yesterday. Took mowing tractor to neighbors and changes engine oil and filter. Also changed transmission oil and filters. Air filter was good. Then greased all fitting. Ready for a long winter rest. Still need to do Mid Mount Mower. It is off tractor so I can work on before spring. Rain brought down a lot of leaves. They are very wet. Winds today should blow a lot of the leaves into woods. Not sure what I will get into today. May put Mid Mount Mower up on saw horses.
