Good morning
29° with a high of 55 and RAIN forecast for this evening.

Been a few days, but I’m alive and well, still puttering around cleaning up and making tweaks and changes, but settling in nicely. Zoe is getting comfortable here as well.

We have relatively hard water, it was a pain cleaning the water spots off the windows where the sprinklers hit them, but CLR bathroom cleaner did the trick. Had to follow up with glass cleaner, but they look clear now. The sprinklers did their job, we have an established lawn in less than a month. It will make a big difference on what Zoe tracks into the house over the winter.

Today’s project is to add a recirculating pump and plumbing so that it’s not a two minute wait to get hot water at the kitchen sink. I suspected it would be an issue, but didn’t deal with it when it would have been easier.

I think that we might have the inaugural fire in the fireplace tonight, I’ve got a load of split wood in the carryall as well as split scraps of cedar siding for kindling in preparation.

Not much else to report.

Not sure how the laws reads, but the unwritten law around these parts if tree trunk still connected on the landowners property it's up them to clean it up.
A good neighbor would clean it up regardless. Especially after you offered them to come on your land to do it.

good morning, 45 going to 57 mini split working good

Ron, agreed we need to stick together on exercises

Need to move the split firewood before the rain comes in later this afternoon

The fire rings are not the same diameter so had to weld in a few angle iron pieces for the top ring to sit on. Now have a place to burn off files that I don't want to end up in trash.

Today is also the day for jacking up the beam a little further. It is lifting up wall above 3 levels high

44 outside this AM, grey and expecting rain later. We need at least a week of soaker type rains, and that might not get us back to average.

Managed to mow the grasses all around the farm yesterday. Even got the weed whacker out. It was like I was back in the desert, dry, dusty and messy. Just a little left.

Paid respects to the neighbors. Police still on the lookout. We have little to no enforcement within our community. We are rural and have seen police on my road maybe three times in twenty years. The traffic is of course higher these days. I usually pick up five or six cans of light beer empties a week on our road.
Talking with our supervisors and state government on lowering speed limits on these back roads has proven fruitless these past few years. A lot of people have tried to no avail. Here is hoping something changes.

Remember to honor our veterans tomorrow.

Hope all have a good day. Be safe.

This pain has been recurring for two weeks gets better then worse. Did it weedeating in the spring. Went away then came back. Doctors appointment soon.

Went back to sleep just got up more rested now.

Thomas hope neighbors do the right thing. In Virginia if a tree is leaning towards your property notifications to land owner. If it falls it becomes his responsibility to remove fix what damage it caused. I will ask my legal eagle for confirmation.

Forgot to cut A/C off last night cold in house this morning

Nice service wngsprd your mom was something else.

ESPN did special on Kirk Herbstreets golden yesterday who died this week. We have lost four that way made me cry. Pets are angels from heaven.

Glad your pain is over sodamo

Prayers for all our Country

Are your roads county maintained or VDOT? If VDOT controlled pound on their door which can force them to do a study.
Just a suggestion
There have been two studies in the past few years.

No common sense recommendations like lowering the speed limits have happened.

If no speed limit signs are posted, rural roads (six hundred series) in VA have a limit of 55mph. Of course that means 60mph and a little more are average to the common driver.

Morning all, 33 going to 60 and saying rain (.3") tonight, we'll see...

Son got a job as Cashier at a local supermarket since his other place is seasonal.

Got paperwork done for new (used) car and cleaned out hoses and put away sprinklers etc.
Went shopping, but did not feel well so came home and wife went back out to finish shopping.

Today may start getting some hooks up for Christmas lights so don't have to take out big ladder.
Wife ordered some string lights so I can restring the big star she has as most of those bulbs have burned out.

Happy birthday to your son BEF.

Drew stopped by with presents of apples and a pool float, very nice :)

Sodamo, I passed a stone once, it took more than a week, so glad yours went through relatively quickly. Not fun..

Our road is posted at 25, doesn't make a difference.

Be well,

Another project, just fixed some more halloween decorations, now fixing Christmas decorations.
The welding we bought is holding up, so will restring lights.

Same here. Paved roads are 35 & 45 mph. School buses are some the worst speeders on my road.

Speed limit on our rural road is 25 and not many stick to that and further no enforcements that I have noticed. There are some older pick ups going much faster smoking from diesel injection pumps turned up. Must be a favorite spot to squeal tires based on the tire marks on the pavement. Used the van to pick up mail yesterday driving over to the opposite lane and backing up to the mail box. And when the lane was blocked while picking up the mail there was some honking of horns to complain. Used restraint to not pull the rope for the airhorn

Regarding dangerous mail box placements: There are a lot of mail boxes out here (very rural) that are placed on the driveway. The carrier has to pull into the driveway and off the road to fill it, and the resident doesn't have to venture out over the roadway to get their mail. I even see this on gravel roads with little traffic.

Seems like a good setup.

If I remember correctly local officials VDOT then house and senate members of Va legislature who are in your district. This can and has been done before just a lot of work on your part. If you are interested I can do some further checking for you

Good morning! 54˚F, NW wind, skies clearing temps rising to the low 80s.

Successful trip to the Costco Toyota dealership in Austin. Only took an hour to get to with stop and go traffic on I35. Right off the bat they offered a $5,000 Costco discount and gave me 2K more for the trade-in than the other dealership offered sight unseen. But most importantly they had the RAV4 with the packages I was looking for. The top one being cooling seats, or as they call them ventilated seats. I went with the all gasoline model (the Texas gasoline is not California priced). I'm betting the resale price will stay stable with no drop-off when the battery time/miles warranty is close to expiring. The hybrid Prius I had was a good car but after the warranty on the battery expires and they wear out, all the money saved on gasoline is ate up by battery replacement or lower trade in value (plus a higher cost to begin with). The prime would be nice but the gasoline money is spent up front on the increased price. The SUV is much easier to get in and out of with my replaced knees. The sale was no hassle, no back and forth trips to the sales managers just a pleasant buying experience. Should get it mid week when KIA is repaired and we can do the switch.
Glad it worked out...I bought our last 2 Toyotas using the Costco program...still happy.

Good Afternoon Don,
Good luck with your car purchase ! Did you give any thought to a Hybrid rather than all electric?
My wife Kathleen has a Honda CRV, I like it but a friend of mine has the same car but with the Hybrid option ! Of course you still have the battery issue !
