58 outside this AM. Heading to mid 70's.

Rained a little to wet the sidewalk down last night. Not gonna help the drought much.

Will clean up the equipment today and get it ready for winter storage. May work on some cabinetry.

Hope all have a good day, be safe.

Good Morning
56° and fair skies. High of 63 forecast.
Yesterday was grey all day, looked like snow, but it was too warm. We did get 1/4” of badly needed rain.
I did the plumbing for the hot water recirculation, added a thermal bypass valve and a circulator, but the boiler doesn’t seem to control the pump as it should. I’ll investigate that today.
I took care of a few other chores along the way, we did take advantage of the cold drizzling evening to christen the fireplace.

Oldest son gave us a Roomba that he didn’t use, it was like new and much better built than the Eufy clone that we had. It took quite a bit of determination to get it reset to remove it from their account, and set up one of our own, as you really need to control it from the app.
The issue was that it needed to be connected to the app to reset it, and wouldn’t connect to the app because it was registered to my son. But in the long run I prevailed.

Today will likely be a Costco run, and figure out why the boiler doesn’t run the recirculating pump for more than about 10 seconds. Also need to get a metal ash bucket with a lid to clean out the fireplace.

Sky has gone overcast as I was typing, wonder what’s up with that. I hear the Roomba out in the hallway, so that seems to be working as it should. It’s time to start today’s adventures.

Couldn't believe the rain gauge when I got there...over an inch...never heard it rain that hard, but it was steady for a long while. Maybe it shifted to high gear after I went to bed. So thankful since it's been so dry for so long.
I have cleaned up my neighbors trees that have fallen on my place, and I have cleaned up my trees that have fallen on their place.

I'm just trying to be neighborly.
You'd be a great neighbor! Move here any time.

Morning all,
A pleasant morning here today at 50F already heading for 60F, not going to be as nice the rest of the week calling for low 20's at night.
Been an expensive week and going to possibly stay that way. Went ahead and order a new pair of year tires to replace the 18.4-30's on the Branson and planning on putting the old Branson rears on the rear of the IH574. Then my wife has been contemplating and looking at new cars. Waiting on a couple of phone calls and she is torn between a new gas power Equinox and leaning more towards the Equinox EV so waiting to see what transpires there. Waiting on my contractor to show on the porch remodel again he got started some last week.
Other then that a laid back week, Marine Corp birthday yesterday and Veterans day today, may swing by the VFW for a light lunch today.

All stay safe and get well.

Good Morning to All who Celebrate! Happy Veterans Day to all! 57 going to a high of 67 with a heavy fog. Rained hard last night here, which is all well, we needed it badly. Could quite literally hear it soaking into the ground.

Had some stomach trouble this past Friday, and didn't truly feel myself again until Sunday. Don't know what that was about, but it's gone now.

Did some minor puttering on Sunday, and got more diesel for the tractor and gas for the log splitter. Need to check and make sure I have enough two-stroke fuel for the saws as this coming weekend is the Great Firewood Gathering Session. Also collected spare rubber from the old garden and moved it for my father:

Main goals this week: Survive workweek, verify all things in place for the GFGS.

Enjoy the week y'all! Stay safe and healthy out there!

had to come back in for a sweater, now headed out to new shed to install inside light solar powered.
nothing like drilling holes in something new...need to get tube of silicone/caulk to seal the hole.
still pretty cloudy out but should clear up

Morning all, 49 going up to almost 70, we had less than the forecaset 1/2" of rain.
We will see if this is enough to lift burn ban.

Did some more cleanup around house, put up some lights. Ran out of steam so we took dog for a walk.

Happy veterans day!

Be well,

Slight road block, other side of town. Why hitch ball size matters. Luckily did not start traveling down the hill.

that's the train crossing on Aquetong Road. Was born and raised two miles South on Aquetong.
folks come down that hill and go over the tracks too fast and can catch some air coming down.
I wonder what kind of truck was pulling that Airstream. Looks like it came out of a field.

finished installing the light inside the shed, no joy when I turned it on. Hope it's just a matter of batteries getting charged up.
now headed out to replenish my supply of apples and get some for the happy new owner of my golf cart.
also need to order some wire staples for securing that shed light, not worth driving downtown for a two dollar item and i'm in no rush

Good Morning!!!! 51F @ 8:00AM. Foggy this morning followed by occasional showers during the afternoon. High 62F. Winds W at 10 to 15 mph. Chance of rain 40%.

Nice long weekend at the Salton Sea with the Airheads. Towing the bikes across all that desert was nice for a change, especially when traffic snarled in the LA basin and through San Bernardino. The weather was perfect during the day, but maybe a bit chilly overnight. Queen size air mattress seemed to suck the heat out before I layered a regular camping mattress over it. Firewood was well received and appreciated. Bombay Beach was weird as usual, and the burgers were good at the Ski Inn. Best meal of the weekend was taco night on Saturday; almost couldn't stop wolfin' 'em down.

Today is an unpacking day, not sure what else it'll bring.

Hope everyone's week gets off to a great start.

Appreciation to all Veterans past and present with special thanks to those that gave their all.

70°F and 0 rain

Had a nice home brunch at friends yesterday. Good to catch up.

Nothing planned for today. I’d rate this mornings pain as 1-2, meds must be working.

Zoom Happy Hour this afternoon.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

next weekend I visit my oldest brother in Middleburg VA where on Sunday I will meet his
son's new wife, the wedding of which I missed while being in CA with RV and not flying.
Will be fun to meet her and spend time with brother.

on Saturday on the way down I was thinking of leaving early and heading first to the PA railroad museum in Strasburg.
I looked at their website and lot of trains there. I'd prefer going Monday on the way home but they are closed Mondays and Tuesdays.

will be interesting to get in car for a journey instead of rv. Need to drive to Newtown to carwash there later this week, still have a drought here
with resulting frown on washing cars.
.09 rain sure didn't do much

will be interesting to see if mpg improves at all during this trip since just had new spark plugs put in. I doubt it.

Enjoy your evening all.

BIG thank you to all veterans past and present. :)

Good (Tuesday) morning. Overnight Low of 7.3C and it's presently 20.6C, lightly overcast & calm.

Yesterday's Remembrance Day parade/ceremony went very well and there was a large 'turn out' of the public. Quite a noticeable number of Veterans opting to sit in chairs... 'time marches on', eh?

Home by 1145, changed and, after a few things around house, decided to head into the Church to assess the leaking toilet fault. Yes, it was just the rubber gasket and I knew what type/size to buy due to the other toilet block job. Before I left, I remembered that there was another side to this outside toilet structure and, sure enough, it was leaking too!

Short story is that I did purchase the correct fittings/gaskets but I couldn't get them onto the toilets... a quick call to the plumber and he was able to come over and showed me the 'trick' to getting them on. No charge, too.

Meeting went fine and home by 1815.

Wood is being delivered, still. More stacking awaits for this arvo.

That's about it, take care all.

The two ingredient biscuits were good the day after, too.

Wore my new boots for about 4 hours today and they are breaking in nicely.

Got a phone call from my dispatcher this morning asking if I was going to retire. I told him 'NO'. Even with only a license to drive a car I still have a job, if not in Toronto/Oshawa I have one elsewhere within the company. The location to be discussed in May.

LOL They have been asking me every year for the past six years if I’m going to retire, and each time I say “no”. Lately they have been starting to offer me a fair amount of cash to retire, but I still say no.

The running gag amongst my family and friends is “I am going out feet first!”

Meanwhile, I have now reached the ripe old age of 71 whereby the Canadian government requires me to either take my monthly pension or take a lump sum equaling all of my contributions, plus the employer contributions, plus the pension fund investment gains, for the last 40 years. The lump sum is my choice, but I still don’t have to retire since they did away with mandatory retirement here in Ontario quite some time ago.
