55 jumping up to 75. Cloudy, but rain has ended, looking forward to walking over to the gauge in a little while to check the amount.
It was cold enough yesterday to build the first fire of the season in the woodstove when I first got up yesterday. My wife was saying the night before she felt cold, so thought it would be a nice surprise when she awoke. She still has her sinus infection and I hear her coughing now. But maybe I should have looked at the forecast, since I am now letting it go out with today's warmth.
I watched a youtube where a guy measured how well his firewood dried, comparing one stack of oak under a tarp roof (sides exposed), and the other stack uncovered...tested after 1.5 years, and sampled south facing side, north facing side, and pieces from the interior, and even split some and tested their insides...uding a moisture meter. Covered won, by a measurable difference. I always wondered about that. One commenter said..yep, they figured that out over a century ago...therefore the woodshed.
Yesterday, took Della for an early morning hike and swim, and got home about the time two of our sons were getting out of bed. They rode down with us for the funeral, and stayed here. Roasted 3 new coffees and happily sampling one this morning.
Now that it has rained and knocked down the dust factor, I have no excuse but to start tackling the leaves today.
