Good morning!!!!

Well, the storm woke the dormant grass, and even brought back to life some of the brown grass, so I mowed for nearly 3 hours yesterday.

Found a new way to clean the mower deck...
1. Start mower and activate the PTO. Increase RPMs to max.
2. Whip around the corner of the barn as usual using muscle memory to swing close.
3. Catch the side of an old half rotten 16' long tarp that has blown onto the grass due to the storm.
4. Watch confetti shoot out.
5. Scream your favorite go-to cuss word.
Did something like that years ago and still remember it well when I mow past where the old house sat.

We are down to 4 cats now. 3 toms and a queen. The other queen died last night and we started searching for her tonight. It wasn't uncommon to not see her all day, but for her to appear in the evening. I found her, stone cold dead. At least she died at home and not by another predator. We thought that she wouldn't last until wintertime, so we made a coffin for her last Spring. She is in it now and we will bury her tomorrow morning on top of Smokie. Smokie was my cat, she died of kidney failure 5 years ago and she is buried beside Katie the Black Lab.
All three of them will be waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge when my time comes.
Nicely said.

All three of them will be waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge when my time comes
GM Bill, our cat Ginty is dying from liver failure ! Best cat we ever had and he is only 9 1/2years old. We have been giving him meds for close to 2 years but sadly it’s catching up with him ! 😒

I will be packing up this morning and heading north, hopefully to get some shop time in over the next few days.

Wngsprd, good story on cleaning out your deck, sorry you had to clean up a gigantic mess !

Hope all have a blessed day ! 🙏

sounds like a nice day to putter Thomas and rest.

fed the birds, think I have found the culprit to all the bird seed on the ground.
blue jays seem to waste ten for every one they select. Too much piles up on ground.
once a week I take the leaf blower to it and blow it out of grass
what bluejays really like are the seed cakes I just put out
thankfully I see a few ground feeding doves come over and help clean up.
Some birds won't eat from the ground

smart birds actually since I shooed my neighbors cat from under the Weber.
darn cat hides under the cover, three feet from underneath feeders, and pounces.
I find the feathers. I need to spray mint underneath the Weber. That big rain washed the old stuff away.
Can't fault the cat, it looks like a little tiger crouching and slinking up to pounce.
I already got into it with this neighbor about his puppy's constant barking and he did well with that.
Trying not to add on with his cat. So lots more peppermint spray

sorry about your cat Scott.

Back in NV where it is a cool 55F. Feels great, going to 93F today.

Bill, that e-trike sure looks impressive. I looked up the manufacturer website and they had a very good explanation of its many features. And the battery diagram was interesting-- so many smaller batteries joined together. Will look forward to hearing some real world experience with it!

Today is flood irrigation day ... will be out in the water and mud very soon.

Everyone have a great day !!!

B&B downtown where friends are is Aaron Burr House.
no Aaron Burr didn't live there, this is some historical puffery.
After the duel, Burr came to New Hope and was treated by a doctor who lived
in this big house. So with a little marketing wave of the hands, it became the
Aaron Burr house...

Good Morning!!!! 54F @ 4:45AM. Some clouds this morning will give way to generally sunny skies for the afternoon. High 77F. Winds WNW at 10 to 15 mph.

Nice weekend so far. New homeowner's policy in place and stopped the autopay on the old one. Got some paper work done, and walked my buddy's dog around the old Spanish mission before a tasty pizza dinner. We both fell asleep in front of the TV watching a boring Outer Limits rerun.
Looks like a pretty zippy trike, Bill. What'll she do? If you use one of those tire driven generators, you'll be converting electrical energy from the trike battery into mechanical energy at a fairly low efficiency level, then back to electrical energy in the generator, another efficiency loss. Better to get a little charger and some rechargeable batteries in one of those bicycle tail lights like Drew was talking about. I remember delivering papers on a bicycle in the wee hours of winter mornings. After the snow packed down to ice on the roads, the tires would make a squealing sound right before the tires slid out from underneath me. I bounced pretty good in the heavy clothes of the day, way back then.

When I first glanced at your photo, Billy, I was wondering how you got snow in August! Glad the tarp didn't break anything.

More hiking on the agenda today, but first some blueberry pancakes.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of their weekend...

good morning, 66 going to 80

More grass mowing today when dry enough. Growing fast after the rains. Diesel powered with more than 30 hp, the ZT cuts the tall grass without slowing down much. Put new set of blades on and serviced it yesterday.
It did not start apparently due to one of the safety switches being wet after the pressure washing so shorted the starter across the starter terminal and the solenoid terminal with a screw driver and it started immediately. Then used the Milwaukee blower to dry it out and working normally now

Morning all, 73 going up to 82 and partly cloudy.
Mowed a few of the side lawns after playing pickup sticks form last storm.
Worked on pool, so many leaves.....

Son is off to friends in Maine, he just landed. He also landed another job as a busboy.
The restaurant is one reopening in a month, my wife worked for the old owners when she was a teenager! She can't wait to see the redone place.

L4N - mobility is back, have fun on the trike. Sorry about the cat ....

Tarps and mowers, isn't that how you prep a tarp for the bin

Onward to LA - UCLA and UC Irvine:
FIL went to UCLA , some of the older main buildings were just restored or in the middle of being Earthquake proofed

Then on to Disney, my wife reliving trips with her parents. Very crowded, overpriced and they redid the haunted house, my wifes favorite for the "season" , she was not happy, but supposedly it will go back to normal next year. And we visited the Star wars area, this was one of my now deceased High School buddies engineering work. He was really proud of this place.

Then onto San Diego and my family after visiting with Holly's Cousins in Oceanside (Marina).
We went to a Tiki convention in a hotel near ours, Wife is very into the Tiki stuff (see Trader Vics)

Father still in rehab and making almost no progress.
We did visit about 9 colleges and my son now wants to now go to NYU, better to find out now than later...
Let' see what can i sell to afford his college......

As much as we love our pets/children, we all know that we will out live them. I would rather my animals die at home than at the paws of a predator.
If mine die in the wintertime then I have an apartment sized freezer that is used ONLY for dead pets.
Scamp is buried. Lowered the box into a 6' deep hole and filled it in.
We figured it out, she had salmon cat food [the ten o'clock feeding] (which she loves), did her business and then went to sleep... permanently.
I was going to go to the dump today, but it feels like rain out there and T-storms are forecast for this afternoon.
I kinda wish the trike was rear drive instead of front drive. Then when I horse on the throttle it wouldn't pull to the left. It is what it is, I will teach my thumb not to go WOT off the line.
This thing has a tail light AND stop light, too. A little creative wiring and there could be led lights all over it. Made a cane holder for it yesterday...two zip ties, one on the handlebar stem and one on the angled tubing supporting the rear swing arm. The front basket is mounted to the frame, so it does NOT turn with the handlebars. It is a small basket about big enough for a six pack [5 miler] or two.
When I was a lot younger and drank way more than my share of beer we called a 6 pack a 5 miler, because you could almost quaff one back in 5 miles. ;)
Ken, thanks for this poor mans visit to Disney, can I now say I've been to both? I was at Disney World in 1973.
It is nice to see some real cars. Cars that you could tell what make they were without reading the badge.

Back down the youtube rabbit hole until Tuesday, when I might go to the dump [closed Mondays].

Your comments about 5 miler makes me think about a rotational assignment in the Startup Group with Marvin on the first day on the job picking me up. I was still eating breakfast and asked him he wanted some? He said I have it with me and it was a six pack of beer. On the way to the job a short drive ( not even 5 miles ) he drank all six without even taking them out of the pack. I was totally amazed.
After this assignment he went to another assignment on Bougainville Island and died in an accident up the mountain side. Not sure of the details of how this happened but I had this picture in my mind of him drinking the six pack and driving off the cliff

69°F and .41 inches rain.

Great day mowing yesterday. Both pasture ends of property done. Now the middle “lawn” areas. Sophie’s little BX does such a great job.

Ridgeline battery measures 12.48, so not the issue. Had on charger all day as well. Tried jumping with my jump pack and no go. A problem with the Key fob and start button I guess. Brand new battery in fob. I seem to recall something similar a few years ago, I think either the Pilot, but so far can’t find the instructions to reset. Something to do with brake pedal as I recall.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day
