Good Morning,
Ct, 68 to start going to 83 with finally sunny skies for a change ! That was one wet week for sure !

Checked the Vt camera this morning, power is still on so should be good to go tomorrow morning !

^^^
True, but the price of one glass of wine used to = about a half a retail bottle. Now it's the entire cost.
Randy, the prices are just crazy these days, we often just order a whole bottle than a glass ! You can take a partial bottle home ! So are the food prices !

Bill, I am eager to see your new bike , maybe you can get Junior to take a pic of you heading to town ! 😉 Good idea on the SMV plate along with a flashing light or two !

We are supposed to visit with a friend down at the shore this afternoon, so need to get going here !

David, sorry to hear you had to go through all that ! Hopefully you will get it sorted out !

Have a great Saturday! 🙏

Good Morning
71° this morning, clear sky with a high of 80 and no rain. A great day for a car show!
That’s a welcome change as we have gotten over 5” in the last 4 days. The drought seems to be over, the green is back in the landscape, mowing needs to be done.

I’ve got to let it dry out a bit before I can mow, I would like to finish up the door for the attic access in the old folks home, and I really need to start the inspection on the little plane, so no shortage of things to do today.

This evening we are going out to dinner at a nice restaurant with all the kids, grandson, and some friends that were with us 50 years ago when we were a couple of hippies getting married at the Friends Meeting House in Southampton, PA.

That should make for a fairly complete day.

we need to find a very cool SMV sign for your trike. Though if you are on a public road, maybe it has
to be of official size and style. how about adding extra lights, perhaps blinking to the rear?
I found a set of LED lights the bicyclists use and zip tied them to hitch of my lawn mower, and then turn them on when
I mow one foot from the street pavement. I wait until no cars are coming but can't see that far down the road.
So I make that one curb pass as fast as i can go.
Dimwits will run right over you, one blew my hat off going by, felt like outside mirror missed my head by about a foot.

pretty sure most of us will slow down if we see some guy mowing right next to the road.
unless he's blowing the grass into the road.
then he gets no slack from me
we have tons of bicyclists and bikers here, add some rain to that mess on road and it's
a bad idea. Blow the stuff inwards, also you don't put a stone in someone's head going by...
Or bag it.
At least blow the first pass inwards.

and if that person along the road has a tractor, pretty sure most of us would slow down to check it out.

I think a big unlettered red flag flying high and blinking lights in rear and perhaps a sign saying
I HAVE A GOOD ATTORNEY
would do nicely.
I like that idea.
I have a couple of ideas but firstly I need a charger like I used to have on a bicycle from the 1950s. At the time most of the bicycle headlights used two 'D' or 'C' cell batteries and then I acquired a charger that fastened onto one of the front forks and could be angled onto the tire to spin and make voltage. The faster you went the brighter the headlight was.
Remember this is an electric tricycle and I don't want to deplete the battery with auxiliary electric robbing accoutrements. I WILL figure something out for extra rear lights.

WHAT!? There are older hippies here? Where is your chartreuse micro bus? You got honorable mention in the Convoy song.

I think a lot of us are products of the sixties and seventies.
kinda amazed I'm still here, particularly after almost losing it four years ago.
could have been in assisted living for rest of my life
and not out here growing tomatoes and beans.

time for Popgadget to dust off his Quaker marriage certificate to celebrate the day.
always sobering to see who isn't here any more.

just gave myself my second weekly Wegovy shot.
not preloaded, only reason I can afford this is because it's all manual.
easy to do, tiny needle.
and then I weighed myself.
geez
gained a pound :cautious:
not sure where this adventure will take me...

but I can say semiglutide does something to your stomach, or maybe its sensors.
My tank is full light comes on far earlier than before.
and maybe that is the whole idea given the size of portions in our country and why 2/3 of us
are overweight.
I love food. Also inherited depression mentality from grandfather, when you had food, you ate it.
Just like a dog.
So a big portion is put in front of you, well don't want to waste money so you eat it all.
Finally learned to eat half and tupperware/take home the rest.
And I've been good at that, but it didn't work.
too soon to tell if the fat pill works for me. He also said first batch was low dose.
I think they test for negative reactions that way. Before I leave on rv trip, will get enough to take with me in fridge,
and every Saturday morning need to do this and record my weight.

maybe next week it will go down.

good morning, no rain in FC the next few days but we got plenty. Surely needed that, 73 going to 84

The pond did not overflow during the storms

Plan to change the mower blades and mow when the grass dries up

PopG enjoy the day. 50 Years married!!!!

And Cody does not have a care in the world and decided to take another nap after sleeping all night

Agreed. My high school class reunion committee sent out a list of my former classmates sorted by living versus deceased. The deceased category was amazingly large.

Still in smoky CA but headed home to NV today. About 65F going to mid-90's, not bad except for smoke.

I'll tow my new Aluma tilt trailer today with the Ventrac on it. Coming from NV, I transported our Jeep Wrangler on it and was pleased how it towed.

Everyone have a great day !!!

Good morning, 75 going up to 85 and finally the sun is out.
I have a lot of yard cleanup to catch up on and need pool supplies.

Drew - I can hear the New Hope train at my house, since it's not loud here, it's more a sign of good things for us.

Happy Anniversary Paul/PopGadget - Have fun tonight !

We then headed south to Solvang, the Danish anomaly in the middle of nowhere, a bit built up from last time I was here, but still overly touristy:

To Santa Barbara, the biggest letdown since I was last here, now a downscale beach town focused on tourism. But they do still have the huge Pier you can drive and park on.

The off to LA and the Grove mall, the farmers market there has lots of great food choices.
We also stopped by the first McDonalds ever opened, since they are the only ones left who serve the fried apple pies in the US. Wife and Son each got one.

20240729_194906.jpg

We stayed at the Garland in North Hollywood, started by a former hollywood actress, fun , kitschy place:
20240729_131347.jpg

We mostly stayed out of LA proper this trip. Between the traffic and the wandering homeless, we thought it would be wise. Been a long time since I worked in LA, it went up and downtown got a huge cash/development inflow and got really nice, then the Pandemic and gov change took it downhill even faster. What a shame, new hotels, entertainment centers, high end apartments, all going wrong.

Nice day today. Low 70's for a high and low humidity. Much better than what it has been.

Gonna go out this afternoon and teach my 13 YO daughter how to shoot. She has no interest in hunting, as of now, but wants to learn. Knowledge is power. I got my late brother's winchester 94/22 for her to learn on and she can have it.

Tomorrow I'm gotta go pick up a Glock 17 that FFL has had for a couple months. He works full time and spends alot of time out of state. He's actually gonna be around tomorrow. Good thing I wasn't in a hurry for it.

67°F and .1 inches rain.

A day without commitments. First time this week and it’s the weekend.

Need to snipe around the Ridgeline a bit. My jump pack is charged. Should have put regular charger on battery but didn’t. Guess I wasn’t thinking.

Nice meal with our friends, but do have to chuckle. The deal was they would bring a veggie and dessert and we would provide the main, in this case grilled NY strips, which were tender and flavorful and roasted sweet potatoes. But they leave us with more food than planned it seems. In this case, 2 beautiful Mangoes, more than half the broccoli, a pan of homemade chicken that’s likely 3 meals, half the chocolate cake, and a bag of homemade marshmallows. Mo loves to eat out and doesn’t do leftovers. Leslie, the venerable Japanese homemaker loves to cook. We become her reason. Not complaining as I’ve loved everything she has made. Of course never had a complaint from them either.

Weather a bit overcast yet, but my hope is to resume mowing.

Prayers for all
Be safe
Have a great day

Went out and looked at the 12HP engine from the WheelHorse. It turns easy by hand, not locked up, still got oil in it. Think I might try to put it back in the mower, if I can get to everything. Too much junk in the barn now. My old Husky is sitting in the shed. I need to try to start it again. had it running sometime this year. I need to adjust (rebend) the deck lift tube so the deck will raise, then it is useable.

Good breakfast with the whole gang of 8 this morning. Not much done since then, decided to wait till monday to mow. Most days just don't feel like getting dirty again after having a shower.

Sunny, 85deg.
Brought a few tomatoes in from the garden, vines are all dying. When it dries out again, need to start digging potatoes.
my condensate catch tank is over half full.

I may have been raised on the yellow and white of Cub Cadet but I always thought those
red Wheel Horses were the nicest looking tractors out there. Just looked like nice industrial design.

boy am I tired and sitting down feels good. Got home after walking entire car show, glad to see FIOS message about possible problem in your area,
they fixed it now, internet now fast again.

mowed the lawn and then made dinner, chicken curry in a big pot on the stove. Starting to smell pretty good.
I have to turn it off to run downtown and pick up friends and bring them back here.
Sure not leaving the stove on...
mushrooms, artichoke hearts, lentils, two kinds of curry sauce, black olives,
no recipe, I just chuck stuff in...

coolest thing I saw at car show was engine compartment of an old Bugatti.
some nice muscle cars, lots of corvettes, particularly older zr1's.
frankly the show seemed way down in exhibits this year, at least for today.
I believe that's because no one wanted to drive in Friday's downpours to get here.

GT-40 was about as tall as my knee.
I was familiar with it.
While I was parked with windows down waiting to pick up my friends,
It came out of the center of town in a 25mph zone in first gear at
about 4000 rpm. What a glorious racket.
Also a nice Cobra, that pic is for Scootr.
even a batmobile was there today
something tells me tomorrow, the foreign stuff, will be better.
That's when local well to do show off their Ferraris and Lambos.

for those who know what a COPO Camaro was, it looks mighty plain, and that engine sticker
was a joke, more powerful than that

my friend Wayne and I decided we'd borrow that giant Lincoln and go cruising. He drives a much smaller Lincoln...
if this all posts, I guess Verizon is fixed.

Happy anniversary, PopGadget!

Trike arrived! The driver got lost following google maps. Little wonder.
The promised pics; and dog named Chloe, but I call her Fugly. She answers to both.

looks great.
can Chloe ride in back?
groceries might not survive but a good trip mate if she is trained well enough not to jump
off at anything with a tail.
