Good morning,
72° now highs around 87° and mostly sunny today. Winds W 10-15 mph, dew points low 70’s slowly falling to around 60° by early evening. We got 1.5” rain from Debby, no wind damage I can see. North and west of us got the worst of it.

Dump run this morning, and wait for things to dry out a bit, maybe some mowing later this afternoon, if not tomorrow is supposed to be cooler and drier.

Prayers for those affected by the storm

our local tourist train got a new paint job for the engine
this weekend, likely the largest tourist event of the year, this train will be running all day long.
About half way to Lahaska my nephew's farm comes right up to the tracks and he says the horn blowing
really gets old. There is a track crossing right there so that train makes plenty of noise.
Won't be a problem this year, nephew is exhibiting both days at car show and won't be home. I think he has two
older not crazy expensive Ferraris, a V12 Jag, an older BMW and something else just showed up. He is fortunate to have many garages
on his farm.

my nephew is a successful wealth manager. He invests in cars not only for fun but as an alternative investment.
I doubt that Jag will ever go up but if you buy right ,which is always the trick, you can do well.
His 14 year old son, the kid who already got the 1950 F-1 pickup from his grandfather, will have an interesting choice
of date cars to choose from. Thankfully he is a quiet and very modest kid, acts about five years older than he is.
Between his grandfather and his uncle, he will have plenty of folks to go driving with him when he gets his temp license
and has to have an adult in the car. He is such a nice kid I don't begrudge him the silver spoon.
Not sure he will ever understand what it's like to drive a hand me down car from two older brothers, and driving cars valued in the hundreds
not hundred thousands of dollars. My brother and I were car guys growing up, so no surprise his son is, and now the grandson can rattle
off car stats. And when he says stuff like "back in the day" we all smile and roll our eyes...
oh to be a kid again.

Good morning, the low is 56 and going to a high of 68°F. Wind WNW 7 mph. 30% changing to 70% near noon of showers and possible T-storms.

If the new trike gets here and it rains I won't be doing anything, but if it doesn't rain then I will be going to the dump.

That is about it for today.

Wag, the goobermint calls those increases in prices 'sin taxes'. Federal excise tax is $0.10/L + Federal Carbon Tax $0.176/L + Ontario Sales Tax $0.09/L + Harmonized Sales Tax $0.192/L. $0.55/l is taxes. And we were taught in school that there was no double taxation in Canada. I call BS. There is no double taxation, nope it is quadruple taxation. :(
Our crude oil comes from Western Canada, but if the railways go on strike like they are supposed to come Aug 22 then I guess all our fuel will come from the U.S.
Enough doom and gloom, it is what it is and there aint nothin' we can do about it.

Have a safe day all

Good morning! 75 heading to the upper 90's, an East wind and clouds later should keep us out of the 100s. We had clouds and thunder yesterday evening but no rain.
Mostly the scorpion is in the water it is an overflow spa and the tile he is on is in the 1/4" water overflow area.
How he got there is a mystery.

Up early wife has pickle ball lessons/practice early this morning before the heat, made her a blueberry pancake breakfast. Today can be a general maintenance day or I can start a new project no lack of either, but for sure at least one nap.

Train horns are like straight pipes and jake brakes on trucks, after a while you don't hear them anymore. I am only 1/4 mile from from the new highway and it is down hill. I don't hear the pipes anymore, but they sure do scare the moose off the road. I've seen that myself from back when I had a purposely gutted muffler on my Freightliner. The bark, bark, bark might be obnoxious to people but it sure scares the wildlife off the road.

Bill,, hope your trike looks nice when it shows up. I bet you will be all over the place in that.
maybe put a big bright flag on it or something, help you be seen and not get hit
I've got a SMV sign for it. The one I just put on the Z-turn. Three zip ties and two bolts and it is off the z-turn and three more zip ties and it is on the trike.
I get my zip ties by the hundred from a parts jobber.

we need to find a very cool SMV sign for your trike. Though if you are on a public road, maybe it has
to be of official size and style. how about adding extra lights, perhaps blinking to the rear?
I found a set of LED lights the bicyclists use and zip tied them to hitch of my lawn mower, and then turn them on when
I mow one foot from the street pavement. I wait until no cars are coming but can't see that far down the road.
So I make that one curb pass as fast as i can go.
Dimwits will run right over you, one blew my hat off going by, felt like outside mirror missed my head by about a foot.

pretty sure most of us will slow down if we see some guy mowing right next to the road.
unless he's blowing the grass into the road.
then he gets no slack from me
we have tons of bicyclists and bikers here, add some rain to that mess on road and it's
a bad idea. Blow the stuff inwards, also you don't put a stone in someone's head going by...
Or bag it.
At least blow the first pass inwards.

and if that person along the road has a tractor, pretty sure most of us would slow down to check it out.

I think a big unlettered red flag flying high and blinking lights in rear and perhaps a sign saying
I HAVE A GOOD ATTORNEY
would do nicely.
