Good morning! Heat advisory today with heat index of up to 111˚, currently 80˚ heading to the upper 90s. No rain in sight on the 10 day forecast.

Spent most of yesterday in the heat first cleaning my garage then following the electrician as he installed some motion detector lights in the garages and closet. He determined the intercom at the front door has no power so the Ring or Nest camera will have to be battery. I pumped out the front fountain but still have to get the last inch by dipping. The roof man cam by and replaced two cracked roof tiles and I mowed the yard in the heat only because I could take a plunge in the pool afterwards.

Good Morning,
Vt, 56 to start going to 71 with rain now as stated in my last post ! 😒

Looks like there is no rush to get outside, thinking some liesurely coffee and then a nice breakfast!

Scotty, it was a good one today.
NHBX, indeed it was ! Enjoyed every minute ! 🙏

Dennis, nice drone mowing pics ! How many acres do you need to mow there ?
I would think it might get tiring after awhile! Usually I can do 4 or 5 hours and then my lower says that’s enough !

Might be a good day to take our company to a brewery that we like over in Salem, Ny. That’s just north of LouNy !
I think it’s RS Taylor or something like that !

Here is a shot looking out the window from our family room, how a few hours can change everything! 😉

Hope all have a great day ! 🙏

End of a family story for this area.

Selling Rockwood Farm for our family was an emotional moment.
yes it put money in our pockets, and yes most of the land was put in preservation,
but it was our roots. Had to resink them locally.
Have always felt an attachment to the land.

I'll be thinking about a DD guys, that's a Don Dip.
sounds marvelous

I did hit it. Yes, quite the bang. 2nd metal pipe I found with the new mower.
We stopped making hay 3-4 yrs ago when dad sold the cows. Making hay is lot more work. Current field we are mowing is old pasture.View attachment 877744

Only 1 guess so far on the tree pic I posted.
Forgot to guess...Buckeyes!

Good Morning Phil,
Beautiful job on the live edge bowl !
I’m guessing you use a faceplate with short screws to hold it ! Although I know you have some fancy chucks !

Great work !! 🙏

Very sad riptides family's have a hard time sometimes getting along. Money can cause all sorts of problems. The root of all evil as my maternal grandmother Dee Dee used to say. She was born in 1889

I've been installing a swamp cooler in the barn. Got a test run done yesterday using a hose to fill it up and an extension cord. Today I will run water and start on the electric. These coolers work good in arid climates. Yesterday was 100º and humidity was about 20%. Perfect swamp cooler conditions. Lawn needs mowing. No shortage of chores and projects this weekend. Enjoy the day whatever you do.

Morning all, 71 going to 87 and very cloudy.
Son is having fun in the city and learning more about the writing process and also getting a good taste of what is there.

Did get some more watering done and picked up some sticks. Went to Mexican place for drinks/apps. Bar tenders always give me a look when I order club soda.

Today will try and get in dog walk in town and work on slab table.

Aunt has spot on her lungs, this is the one that beat cancer twice so far. Will find out more in a few weeks.

Fawns keep playing on front lawn, fun to watch while I work. Bunnies are still around in same area.

Puppies!

Thomas - Bear needs toys. The bear in our area seems to have moved on, never saw it myself.

Good luck with the swamp cooler Scotty, friends out towards vegas had one and it worked really well.

My GM was from Denver. They all left Colorado at an early age to come to NY, I guess during the 1930's. Jobs were scarce out there, but plentiful on the East coast. I always wonder what Denver was like in the late 1800's, I did visit their house once, that area of Denver is not safe anymore, houses were small. My great, grandfather moved out there with his brother who was a boxer, gggf had a breaker yard, eventually became a car breaker yard.

Be well,

Good Morning!!!! 53F @ 6:00AM here in Orcutt. Areas of fog early, becoming sunny this afternoon. High 72F. Winds WNW at 10 to 15 mph.
Up north an Excessive Heat Warning starts Tuesday, and a Fire Weather Warning starts Monday night. Monday is sounding like a good day to trailer the VW van back here. I'll be on the road in a bit to return the U-Haul trailer up north.
RNG hope you get missed by the fires. Are you taking the LEDs to new house?
I had two of the stadium LEDs perched under the peaks of the roof at each end of the old house, and since they were controlled by smart switches, I took them down and brought them to the new house. Pretty sure I'll use them at each end of the garage to light the driveway. I haven't decided if I'll leave the other ones or not.

Broke up the garage step with the HF jack hammer, and quickly learned that one of the plastic handles had been glued back together when it came apart again. Called HF to order a replacement handle and was told they no longer have parts for it. Time to get inventive on my own repair. Also learned that the step had been poured on a sand pad, so I decided a step wasn't at all needed and took it all out. When I get some time later, I'll dig out the sand and just fill the hole with concrete, level with the rest of the pad.

Moved the little motorcycle trailer to the other side of the house so it won't get trapped when the VW comes down. And wedged the mill so it won't go anywhere until I get back next week. Gonna be some work rearranging machines in the garage to make a final spot for the mill.

Watched the presidential debate yesterday morning. All I can say is that I wish we had better choices.

Hope you all enjoy your weekend!

Good Morning
71°, overcast and a high of 80 forecast. Rain and thunderstorms tonight.

Yesterday the framing got wrapped up. The roof has the ice shield and felt on it to protect the sheathing, have to wait for the mason to build the chimney and counter flash it before putting the actual roofing on. All the bracing and debris is cleaned up, now we are on to mechanicals.
I kept all the radiant loops pressurized throughout the process to verify that they weren’t breached. I trimmed them all back and connected the manifolds.

I picked up a pizza for the band, I was on the run all day and didn’t find the time to even throw something in the crock pot.
Had a good night playing music, went out with Zoe before going to bed, she hopped in my spot before I could get there.

I’m going to take it easy today, but I’ll have to get the smoker loaded up, I never got to cleaning out the firebox and loading it up either, so that will be right after breakfast.

Still haven’t had to mow, although son did mow the RC runway, but it was mostly just plantain sticking up.

Scootr, I wanted to install one in the barn in NC but they said don't bother, too humid, better off with a big fan.
with 20 percent humidity that will feel wonderful

I have the water sprinkler on out front. Only way to make sure it rains tonight.

Morning all;
Not a bad day temperature wise here this morning only 64 out at 10:15, been having gentle showers since about 6 this morning.
Had a very agreeable morning yesterday another TBN'er (thclimer) came by and we sat and visited for a few hours. And it was a pleasant day to sunny and low 70's.

Take care all.

I've had one in the garage for 20 plus years. Lived with roof mounted coolers in the desert about 60 miles NE of here for 20 yrs prior. If maintained they work well. Maintenance includes annual tank cleaning, pad replacement, and pump and float replacement as needed. They cost pennies a day to run. But they are used as fan only when the humidity comes up in late Aug during the monsoon season.
I mounted my garage cooler thru the wall about waist height where it is easy to service. I'm installing the barn cooler in the gable end under an extended roof where the sun won't hit it.
Access is by my preference on a forklift platform. Pictures later.

PT went ok, the therapist has narrowed it down to nothing that I didn't know already.... nerve issues, inflammatory response, and resultant swelling. "Not much we can do" Duh! That's why the surgeon sent me to you.... he doesn't know what's going on either!

I guess it's time to call the original surgeon again. The therapist recommended being evaluated by a nerve specialist. Need to get a referral. Can't wait to deal with the insurance company again.....
Prayers you can get some relief soon.

Progress? I can only hope.
Just got off phone with my LS dealer tech. LS recently released a a tech note concerning the EGR valve and its replacement. Not a trivial deal.
So I will have to trailer my tractor back to dealer. Will await expected date of parts.
He also confirmed no Dyno, so I will remount my flail so it can be run under load.
This time, I will NOT retrieve until assured it is fixed.
Make sure you take your mower on back, so you can test it properly before hauling it back home.

D got her phone back. Embassy Diplomatic Security tracked it and confronted the person together with local police. Person arrested. She had it deactivated but now reloading from iCloud. It was not a foreign agent as suspected.
Glad she got it back. Sounds like Las Vegas. Crooks everywhere. Glad I live in a small town, but the cops still stay busy.

it’s a safe bet it was the plug. The Honda electronic ignition is very sensitive to the resistance of the plug, as the plug wears, collects deposits, and the gap changes the voltage to fire it changes and the ignition doesn’t deal with it well. A common issue is kickback when starting, it is not intuitive that changing the plug would cure that. Adding to that is that the plug can look perfect and still be a problem.
I wouldn't have thought of that. My 17hp Kawi engine will crank well, but it has developed an issue where it won't start until you actually back off the key to the run position. My old Yamaha 650 twin would do that, and the mech said it was because the starter was hogging the electrical energy and when you let off the starter button, enough energy flows to the spark unit to start it.

I have a ton of chores to do. Looking for this guy to hire to help me shred....
