Don, I guess all meat has saturated fats, which are a problem. However, chicken breast (without the skin) has only 1/5 to 1/20 of the sat. fat of beef, depending on the cut. That study should have pointed that out. Please keep sharing health tips and motivation.

I just had time to look at these pix. Great trip! You know how much I love mountains and snow, but that might be a bit too much for me, at least in the winter. I don't remember you telling the story about the pink-sleeved cutie hanging out the window. I was wondering who won the log sawing contest? USA or Canada?

Drinking first cup of coffee. 57° with mostly clear skies this morning. Heading to 90° with mostly sunny skies. Good day to be a tourist. Going to visit Aunt and Uncle in Port Huron. Got all my projects done yesterday plus a couple of extra ones.

My diet has changed in recent years. Some of it because of Don's post and visits. A large part because wife has a lot of trouble eating solids. No more soda, low salt and sugar, and cut way back on meat. Still enjoy a small steak and burger every once in a while. No heart disease in either side of my family. Most die from age related body failures or bad life habits. Like drinking and smoking. Never smoked and only drink occasionally.

Buckeye, hope they find why you are having back problem. Prayers sent.

Randy, you may need some rest by now. :thumbsup:

Buckeye, hope waking up this morning was better, even in a hospital. Good drugs anyway...

beautiful morning, bright blue sky, about 70, going up to 90 with thunderstorms this afternoon.

headed out to pick tomatoes, then downtown to get first of ten laser treatments on right foot for plantar fasciitis, since orthotics did not work.
Not sure this laser treatment will work either.

Yes, wedding was Saturday, I’m very slowly improving. Walking more with a cane and less with the walker. My endurance is still poor though. I had no idea this would be the ordeal it is. I drove for the first time since May yesterday, trailer needed moving and backing in to a spot and not many people are adept at that. LOL
Thanks for checking on me, feel free to post this on the forum if you want, and I’ll get an update on the forum ASAP. I have a cardiologist appointment this morning. If that’s ok I will get a detailed update together in a day or so.

Good morning! 78 heading to the dog days of summer. Yesterday the kia’s thermometer hit 100 twice driving on hwy 35. The rest of the time it hovered around 98.

Great news Randy was able to pull off the wedding with no delays. I bet his family is happy after his sudden scare.

Sitting on the front porch airing out the cat going over pipeline proposal for mom. I added 20 more provisions to their 19 to make it more favorable to the grantor. I don’t like this “lawyer” work but will save mom thousands in fees in getting a more fair deal.

I just had my yearly checkup with our family Doctor with full blood panel workups. To sum it up, I am in very good health for a man of my size. BP near perfect, 178 total cholesterol, and everything else right where it should be, blood sugar not a problem, low triglycerides, except slightly high liver enzymes. Of course I need to lose weight he said, but no mention of red meat. I don't drink alcohol, sodas, or sweet tea; never smoked or touched drugs. How can I improve on this? (yes, I am asking for help). Thanks

Sounds like you're doing well, the weight is tough.two of the few cardiologists I have any confidence in said moderation is the key to healthy living.I'm the youngest of a family of 8 and have watched all but my youngest sister die of heart disease,I've had 2 surgeries and need another valve but because of earlier incompetence can't have it until they figure a way to do it with a catheter.
In my 20+ years of personal experience my advice would be to avoid cardiologists,I've dealt with several of them and there are only 2 that I would trust at all.This includes private practice and hospitalists. They are the most mercenary lot I have ever seen and will take their pay day before your well being every time.Most have a real talent as B.S. artists but should never be trusted.

Good Morning. It was 76°F here this morning and we're forecast to see 97°F"

The Hurricane Hunter Aircraft is scheduled to fly the low pressure area in the GOM today which should improve the forecast for this weekend. Presently, most models have, whatever this turns into turning north, east of Houston which means we may get no rain at all. We need some rain.

Yesterday ...... was not one of my best days.



While cutting one of our pastures, I was backing up, cutting under low hanging limbs on a live oak tree. I backed up and while shifting back to forward, the tractor rolled back about a foot and the back window exploded! I'm going to clean up all the shattered glass in the cab and get rear window frame removed so, I can get glass replaced. Ironically..... the live oak was next on my list to get trimmed up so I could mow around it. Oh well.
