72 going to 91, maybe storms.

BEF, prayers for you to get well!

Eric, I have that same problem with something filling in the screw holes.

RNG, my response to tractor research is like PJ's - using TBN. Only difference is that I picked Kubota, and the local dealer was easy to work with. I shopped at 4 different Kubota dealers in the region to help me negotiate best price, and felt good about all of them if I needed parts/service. My main questions had to do with service/pick up and delivery...but I haven't needed it yet at 1,150 hours and 15 years. Good luck with your search.

Rick, bummer. I have an open station and don't think I have ever been poked hard enough to break glass, if it had been there, but have been swiped hard enough by branches to draw blood. Glad you got your replacement glass so quickly since you use your tractor so often.

Did a battery charge of weed whacking late yesterday. The battery ran out about the same time as my own battery was drained...90s and humid are tough...right, Bird? Had to come in and look at Sodamo's and Cat's snow pix to cool off.

56 in Bethel right now...high in the low 80's today and a high probability of thunderstorm in to tonight.

I've come to the conclusion that my internet problems may be due to a Windows 10 upgrade. I think I wrote this yesterday. The next course of action will be reloading a restore point...and if that doesn't work, reloading Windows 10

Good morning all 74 now heading to mid 80's .
BEF hope you start feeling better soon, fortunately back problems have avoided me so far but my kid brother had surgery a few years ago and still calls me when he has heavy lifting.
Rick I have had open cab for many years for Farmall cub an international and have been wacked by tree limbs a few times. I do have a cab on my JD now can't cut as close to the trees but no injury. Look at it this way $275 is way cheaper than an Emergency room visit.
Drew thanks for the posting from Randy good to hear things are improving for him new wife and all.
Dave our cruise is on Royal Caribbean, starting in Fairbanks then on to Denali, train to Skagway where we hop on the ship. When my wife told me to pick out a day trip I found horse back riding I think it was Juno she then told me that I can't do that she had already booked us for the scenic train ride, horse back still sounds better to me.
Bird I bet I hate winter as much as you hate the heat.
Thoughts for all living in the Gulf coast with the storm heading in. Speaking of which saw on the news last night Italy had hail the size of Orange's watched the video would not want to be in an open cab when that started

Ditto on the weather from wngsprd. Too lazy this AM to do my own. I am sapped...I think the humidity and the outside work these past few days (weeks) have caught up to me. I have no appetite (hunger) for food and I just drink water, gatorade and beer. Can man live on liquid alone? LOL.

Sorry about that window Rick, but it could have been worse.

BEF, man, come on, get better! Get on those docs already! They should have a better idea now with what is up. Stay positive!

On tractor shopping, functions, features and specs from TBN. Dealer visits, I am lucky to have numerous dealers within the hour of my place. I settled on two different dealers for equipment, same brand, it was service and service and service that drove me to one of them. But alas, with my ZTR fuel episode, the communications just were not there, so I downgraded them as far as next purchase. I am looking again, and have sort of come to the conclusion that customer service sucks, so you go with specs and functionality, dealing with service issues when they come up..if they do.

I hope all have a great day. And all get better, sooner.

On open cab and dabsgt Farmall, that ride almost killed me some 20 years ago. My next tractor is a cab. My goggles with all the scratches on them, tell me I have lots of trees to trim. LOL.

Poured second cup of coffee. 72° with mostly clear skies this morning. Heading to 83° with sunny skies. Yesterday's trip and visit went very well. My aunt the had a stroke and seizures a couple months ago is almost back to normal. Off all meds and done with therapy. Need to get flail mower back on tractor to cut feilds later today or tomorrow. Friend is bring his motorhome over to do some repairs and upgrades.

Buckeye, sure hope they come with a plan to fix the pain and walking.

Randy, glad you sent Drew a update. Keep getting better.

Rick, glad you able to get a replacement window so quick.

RNG, shopping for my tractor in 2000 got me spending many hours on the internet figuring out what I needed/wanted. Turned out to be a good pick for my place. This was on the old Kubota forum. Before TBN. I had lots of time. I was off work recovering from surgery. I have a large choice of dealers around here. 3 JD, 1 MF, 2 Kubota, 1 Kioti/LS, 1 NH, and 1 Yanmar dealer. I would have to go with the one that offered most options and best price. My Kubota dealer stopped selling them is now the MF dealer. Maybe I need to go see him and see if he can sell me a tractor with cab and AC like Drews.

Prayers for all.

Good Morning All.

RNG, Like you, I'm have to work on a slopes, so one of the most important issues for me is not tipping over. How wide the wheels can be set was a big factor in choice of tractor, there can be quite a difference between otherwise similar manufacturers.

Good point, Eric. There are wheel spacers listed in the John Deere build list options, and the rear wheels can be moved out an additional eleven inches if desired. Front spacers are available, too, but apparently using them will interfere with operation of the front end loader. So that'll be a question for the dealer today.

Good Morning!!!! 70F @ 5:45AM. Abundant sunshine. High 97F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.

Here's hoping you folks on the mend get there sooner rather than later!

Glad the dealer had your glass in stock Rick, and hope installation goes off without a hitch. I got whipped a time or two by tree branches early on when using the tractor here, and that prompted me to purchase a pole saw and use it. It still gets a workout, or I should say I get a workout, every year, as the darn trees just won't stop growing down as well as up. All the cabs I've seen measurements for are taller than the ROPS on the same tractors, which seems like another reason to stay with open station. It also makes sense to pay attention when moving near or under trees, and it's a lot easier to see where the ROPS is going than a cab that you can't see through without Superman glasses.

Caught up via telephone with my truck drivin' neighbor, who turns out to have purchased his JD tractor from the dealer I'm visiting today. His experience so far with them has been good, both with the tractor and the dealer. Hope I'm as lucky...

Mostly, when I got my Kubota tractor, the hydraulic cylinder mounts were ripped off at two locations on the FEL, and I used quarter inch 4130 plate to make repairs. It's very weldable as you say, just don't quench the weld in water and you should be fine as far as the HAZ is concerned. Gas Metal Arc (MIG) welding will put less heat into the steel and still make a strong weld, but you'll still have a little touch up to do on the paint.

I had some holes plugged with mud and bug spit on that old BMW I refurbished, Eric. One of the holes had something squishy under the mud cap; I think that bug met an early end.

Split time between sprinkler and ignition systems yesterday, getting two sprinkler circuits plumbed with plastic before I ran out. Almost out of glue, too, so those are on the shopping list for today. Got several wires run on the ignition system, and remade a ground connection by cleaning and greasing it, adding in the ignition system ground in the process. Now I need to spend some time with a schematic to find a source of switched twelve volts to power the thing. There should be one in the connector that powered the old engine control unit, but when I checked it yesterday, it still read a couple of volts when the ignition switch was off.:confused2:

Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!

71°F and clear skies this morning, going up to 84° today. Some pop-up storms rolled through the area yesterday and brought some welcome relief from the heat and humidity (97° yesterday).

The neighbor to the south said while he's checking his fences he's been seeing our skunk wandering around outside the chicken coop looking for a way in recently. Wife set the live trap yesterday at the side of the barn, with a 20ft rope attached. Grand adventure awaits us, I'm sure.
