Good Morning!!!! 70F @ 5:45AM. Abundant sunshine. High 97F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph.
Here's hoping you folks on the mend get there sooner rather than later!
Glad the dealer had your glass in stock Rick, and hope installation goes off without a hitch. I got whipped a time or two by tree branches early on when using the tractor here, and that prompted me to purchase a pole saw and use it. It still gets a workout, or I should say I get a workout, every year, as the darn trees just won't stop growing down as well as up.

All the cabs I've seen measurements for are taller than the ROPS on the same tractors, which seems like another reason to stay with open station. It also makes sense to pay attention when moving near or under trees, and it's a lot easier to see where the ROPS is going than a cab that you can't see through without Superman glasses.
Caught up via telephone with my truck drivin' neighbor, who turns out to have purchased his JD tractor from the dealer I'm visiting today. His experience so far with them has been good, both with the tractor and the dealer. Hope I'm as lucky...
Mostly, when I got my Kubota tractor, the hydraulic cylinder mounts were ripped off at two locations on the FEL, and I used quarter inch 4130 plate to make repairs. It's very weldable as you say, just don't quench the weld in water and you should be fine as far as the HAZ is concerned. Gas Metal Arc (MIG) welding will put less heat into the steel and still make a strong weld, but you'll still have a little touch up to do on the paint.
I had some holes plugged with mud and bug spit on that old BMW I refurbished, Eric. One of the holes had something squishy under the mud cap; I think that bug met an early end.
Split time between sprinkler and ignition systems yesterday, getting two sprinkler circuits plumbed with plastic before I ran out. Almost out of glue, too, so those are on the shopping list for today. Got several wires run on the ignition system, and remade a ground connection by cleaning and greasing it, adding in the ignition system ground in the process. Now I need to spend some time with a schematic to find a source of switched twelve volts to power the thing. There should be one in the connector that powered the old engine control unit, but when I checked it yesterday, it still read a couple of volts when the ignition switch was off.:confused2:
Hang in there, gang, Friday's comin'!
