good morning all
boy did I sleep like a rock last night, but everything works this morning so onward
only high of 80 today in clouds.
plumber coming at 8:30 to install back up sump pump. Once he is done, then have day to myself, probably
will mow lawn and wash the car. Car wash is over twenty bucks now if they vacuum inside and clean windows.
During the winter I treat myself but no excuse now.

now I know why fig newtons were so expensive last time I bought them...
good spreadsheet Dennis

RNG, slow but steady, enjoy the ride, like your bike...but you'll get it all cleaned up and fixed up.
Glad you did not have issues with storm.
just make sure you prioritize that "rv access path"...could I fit my little motorhome there?
Work on those full hookups too... ;)

August 22, where did the summer go...
We get the Walmart Great Value fig newtons, four sleeves in a pack, just as good as the name brand and both cheaper and more in package.

Fossil record shows that it was more than triple during some of the most prolific biosphere activity on this planet. And it was almost double during the height of the Roman Republic… must have been all those diesel war chariots…
Any links?
What is the historical record of CO2 levels?
7. Is the current level of atmospheric CO2 concentration ...
Measurements of air in ice cores show that for the past 800,000 years up until the 20th century, the atmospheric CO2 concentration stayed within the range 170 to 300 parts per million (ppm), making the recent rapid rise to more than 400 ppm over 200 years particularly remarkable [figure 3].
link
For the last one million years, CO2 levels slowly oscillated between 180 ppm and 300 ppm, as Earth’s climate transitioned in and out of the ice ages, with the dawn of agriculture and human settlement only establishing when CO2 and climate stabilized at the end of the last ice age, around 10,000 years ago, Rae said.

“In the last 100 years, fossil fuel burning has driven CO2 from 280 up to 414 ppm,” he said.

This discussion should be held elsewhere

Phil you really are talented. If you did an online store, I'd sure buy one of those. I love wood...
Projects listed in the for sale section.
60 here heading to 75.
Need to do a little more tractor work this morning and then I have a meeting to go to later in the afternoon. Going to be a laid back kind of day!
Hope everyone stays safe and healthy!

Good Morning Guys,
50's to start going to mid 70's.

Started off spraying glyphosate along the driveway heading up towards the shop. Then the pump on that new Greenwood sprayer from HF wouldn't pump up ... no seal at the o-ring on the plunger.
rswyan, I bought an o-ring kit through amazon, it has a surprising variety ! Very well priced also !
The black phone one the black tailgate got curled too much to still work when I tried to shut the tailgate.
Gale, really sorry to hear about your unfortunate experience ! Last time I ruined my phone, was running my flip phone through a washing machine !

Hope all have a blessed and safe day !

Good Morning
It’s 66 with a high of 76 under partly cloudy skies, another day with no rain.

Yesterday started in the shop cleaning up and putting away tools and supplies from the past weeks activities.
Had a couple of Zoom meetings that were not very productive, but I’ve always said that meetings were where minutes are kept and hours are lost.
We got a hay delivery, but I didn’t have to stack it, they loaded it up into the loft, and filled the hay shed. I did have to unload bags of feed into the bins though.
When I was out with Zoe, I noticed that she doesn’t look like a puppy any more, she is 10 months old.

Started a spreadsheet for the lightning damaged stuff, it’s up to $3k now, so I guess there will be an insurance claim.
Went over to model field to watch a friend make the first flight of a plane that his dad built 30 years ago and we just converted to electric.

It flew great, it’s bigger than it looks, he made a great landing.

Today will start with a trip to Costco, the parts for the standby generator are coming today, I’ve got to cut some sandblasting mask for the rock man and I’m sure there’s more that I’m forgetting.

Good morning! 75˚F heading to just 100˚ today not 108˚ like yesterday. Got a little more done in the estate garage yesterday, getting ready for the estate sale but had to stop when the temp got to 103˚. Glad we got a month to get things ready these hot August days are making short work days.

Morning all, a chilly 69 going to 79 today , cloudy
Worked more on cutting down and pre-drilling furring strips and even got a few put up.
Nothing more exciting to report.

When I was working in Cali in the late 80's I went through a 7.2 and a 6.8 earthquake East of where we were (East of LA) one was rolling, one was a shaker. The second one blew out windows in a friends office building and collapsed part of a bowling alley. Not a great way to wake up.

My wife tracks all groceries and we even see that what used to be the higher priced stores are not that much different than the "lower" priced ones. Her bill is up 30-50% from a little over 2 years ago, so we had to cut back on some items.
The stores that have raised their prices the most, also show the most profit hikes in their quarterly reports. So even with inflation jumping through the roof, the grocery stores by me are managing to keep up with price gouging.
Its not all inflation that is hurting our wallets, but it sure aint helping.

Be well,

More Home depot wood from the bent forest, not sure how I missed this:

Good Morning!!!! 60F @ 5:15AM. Sunny. High 78F. Winds W at 10 to 15 mph.

SpaceX delayed this morning's launch until 2:40. I know this because the rumble woke me up. Then as I was drifting back to sleep, the water softener in the garage decided to start recharging, ensuring I'd get busy doing something on the laptop while it finished, and that I'd be awake until now.

Thanks for the thoughts on the garage door, Fritz. Makes perfect sense.
I uncovered the following videos that proved helpful on the SmartKey stuff:
Rekeying without the original key:

Doorknob disassembly:

Dunno why, but the the speakers in all of these have a strong Russian accent...

I moved to the SF Bay area in '81, rode out a couple of 5 something quakes in the first year or three, then experienced Loma Prieta which took out the Bay Bridge and the Cypress Structure, ruining the rest of my day and leaving a big dent in my brand new Toyota pickup's left front fender where the dart board jumped off the chimney and landed on it. Orcutt is supposed to be somewhat seismically stable, enough that I'm not bothering with earthquake insurance. Appropriately, in places where you really should have earthquake insurance, it's very expensive, and of course if you really don't need it, they almost give it away.
Slowly getting everything in the house changed over to connect to the new Starlink wi-fi. Wife got some of the cameras switched over, but some are being stubborn. Downside of having two different systems. Need to look into changing that.
Starlink sells an Ethernet adapter cable that should let you use your own wireless router, Paul. I say should because that may mean you get forced into having double NAT, which slows down the internet speed. At least that's the way it worked out at my old place with the Unifi network stuff. But at least I didn't have to go around changing the WiFi SSID on all the WiFi devices when I ditched HughesNet.

Work on those full hookups too...
So far I've spotted a hose bib and 120VAC outlet next to the RV parking pad, and they left a pair of short plastic ramps to get up and over the curb. I haven't tried them out with the van yet, as I want a spotter for the first time. And yes, you're more than welcome to visit either location should you and your MH find yourselves nearby when you get to the West Coast.

My buddy took off early yesterday morning, right after breakfast, so I got an early start on the day, too. Got the last lock rekeyed, one that I didn't have a key for and that the twist button wasn't working on, either. The handles were levers, and I had to find a different video that showed how they came off, too. And once I got it all back together, I had to take it back off because I installed the part with the key slot upside down.

Then I started fiddling with the alarm system, ending up in a long chat session to figure out how to keep the outside cameras from triggering an alarm. I want to use them for viewing, but don't want wind, sunshine, animals, bugs, or passers by being the cause of law enforcement dispatch. I had to ask the same question about three different ways before I got an answer I could use. Pretty sure there was a language barrier in there somewhere, or someone was picking things out of a script and throwing them at the wall to see of they'd stick. Eventually got it figured out, then ordered additional smoke detectors and cameras to flesh out the system. Even got the special 40% discount offered on the original purchase.

Then made a call to the sheriff's office to make sure that they were the ones to respond to an alarm, and make sure they didn't require a permit. They don't, and there are no fines for too many false alarms. But you do get a good talking to.

Also figured out how to stop mail delivery at the new place. It required another account at the Post Office website. And surprisingly, there was no validation that I was who I said I was. Hmmm...

Did a partial disassembly on the broken microwave, enough to see that whoever else had been in there broke off the mounting tabs on one side of the control panel, which is why it was left flopping around. Looks like there's a broken micro switch in there that's preventing the thing from running, but getting to it was going to be a huge chore. Much easier to plunk down $200 at Lowe's for a new one. I'd have to wait a few more weeks to make a home warranty claim, and have a tech come out to look at it which would cost another $80. Not worth the time or hassle on a 12 year old appliance.

Tomorrow I head back north, hopefully picking up a new-to-me box trailer along the way. Need to finalize those arrangements today, along with packing up all the empty boxes to use again.

Not a good morning. Septic backed up at the rental property, and I am meeting the honey wagon there to see what the problem is. Looks like the fluids are not exiting the tank, because the renter said that the area was flooded with 4 inches of water. I have to find my rubber boots!😵‍💫

oh dear Check. Hold your nose, lots of bleach

mowed the lawn, pushed the trim mower everywhere, then good excuse to bring Gravely out to tackle the tall weeds in the
drainage ditch. I knew there was still water in it, but the tires on the Gravely won't get stuck.
It mowed it easily. Almost all my neighbor's grass, this is an unrented unoccupied home, and I try to help the owner out.
He has a Gravely ZT that would get good and stuck in that ditch.

daisies happy

resting before I go back out and wash the car

Before I put the mowers away, going to hook up grease gun and have a grease festival, all zerks invited
