88F and mostly cloudy @ 14:30, which beats the predicted high of 86F. HI 99F, DP 73F, HU 65%, AQI 73. Yesterday's high temp was 92.3F.
Yesterday started out reasonably well ... and quickly went to very frustrating.
Started off spraying glyphosate along the driveway heading up towards the shop. Then the pump on that new Greenwood sprayer from HF wouldn't pump up ... no seal at the o-ring on the plunger.
So I unhooked the dump cart and took the Cub up to the compost/woodlot and hit that again.
After that I headed over and had a look at the largest Rose of Sharon bush which is finally blooming:
That, along with a bunch of other stuff, is going to need watered pretty soon. But I'm pretty happy with how well it's doing. Hopefully the taller cage will keep the deer off of it.
Then I headed back down and checked the sprayer to see if it would pump up. No dice.
So I brought it down to the garage, took the pump apart and put it back together ... pumps up fine ...
Loaded it back up in the dump cart and headed over to the unplanted portion of the west planting bed (since I had lost the shade along the driveway) Sprayed a little bit over there.
Then decided I'd get the battery-operated string trimmer out and cut down the tall weeds near that little planting bed at the corner of the second circle.
Got that done and debris raked out of the way so I could spray it. Retrieved the sprayer from where I had left and started spraying again. Sprayer refuses to pump up ... again ...
So I headed down to the corner hardware to get a slightly larger o-ring. No luck with finding the one I wanted ... they don't have the correct thickness in stock ...
So I did settled for a couple that I thought might work (but ultimately didn't ...

) Lady offered to go down into the basement cause she thought they might have a return that might have a returned sprayer that may have something I could use.
Ended up scoring what appeared to be a new complete sprayer for free, however she didn't know what the issue was or why it was returned ... only that the hardware store didn't need it and I could have it. Haven't tried it yet.
Tried the two o-rings when I got back, no dice ... still won't pump.
Tried swapping out the pump from The Woman's 1 gallon Greenwood sprayer. No luck there either ... apparently the high-acidity vinegar She was running in it attacked the o-ring swelling it, and the pump flapper valve causing it not to seal.
At that point I had had enough and gave up on the spraying for the day.
Put the shrub bucket on the Kubota and contented myself with digging out and splitting several clumps of day lilies on the north side of the garage.
Took those over to the northeast planting bed and started putting them in the ground around the lilac bush until it got dark. Still have 5 left to go:
Did not get hopper feeder refilled, tube feeders now empty ... so will probably go do that here in a little bit.
Woman did provide a couple of BLT's for a late lunch/early dinner ...
Ended up polishing off a couple more ribs and some of those oven-baked potatoes and a couple of Mike's Hard Limes later after I came in ... also two pieces of homemade banana bread with a big glass of milk later for desert ...
Woman was out earlier weeding the flower bed, got overheated, came in and got a shower.
Think I may make a run down to Menards during this afternoon heat and pick up a couple of Chapin 1 gallon sprayers. Aside from the clogging issue (which was my fault) the one I have seems to be reliable ... at least so far ...
Trash night tonight.
Hope everyone is having a good Monday ...
