Good morning, 66 going to 83 no rain

Working at a garage as a teen got exposed to driving a variety of vehicles at an early age including trucks and farm equipment as well as a range of cars and motorcycles. Farmers brought in old cars often that dated back to 20's and 30's as well as left over from World War II

RNG, looks like you are digging right in to improve the new place. Do you monitor the old place?

Stacked two loads of fire wood yesterday.

Looks like Gd and friends will be here Friday for her birthday so will get the Minix out and dig a fire pit for the campfire. Hard to believe she will be 15

Talk about VWs we could change the engine at the time in 20 mins.

PJ happy birthday

Geez, does that mean poor boy will have to know how to drive? Hopefully his parents will insist he know how.

I’m concerned these younger operators won’t know what to do should a basic system fail.
::: clambers atop the soapbox:::

With all the “Operator Assistance” garbage on modern vehicles today, anyone under age 40 is not really learning how to drive. The are more aiming and hoping in many cases.

Another major factor IMO that affects younger drivers is that they they were imprisoned in the rear seats the last 30 years, with nothing to soil at in front of them except a high headrest or an electronic device. Kids were banned from the view out the windshield, seeing the bill vista of sights —- and also observing and learning how a vehicle is operating by observing the driver.

And what “Modern Parent” would ever DARE TO BE SO BOLD as to have their five-year-old sit on their lap and steer the car through town?

::: upends soap box to climb a bit higher:::

I am almost at the point where I think it would be a good idea to remove all the warning labels and let evolution take its course —- stupid should hurt.

Thank you for attending my TED Talk.

:::climbs down from soapbox and heads to the bar:::

Which one is the starter and which one is the low beam?

Of all the modern convinces I think power steering will be missed the most.
Power steering and manual steering are geared differently, and it really isn’t a major issue except when parking.

plus manual steering has added benefits:

1) Nobody will want to borrow the vehicle;

2) Every day is “Arm Day”

😎👍

Good Morning Guys,
65 to start going to 77.

TxDon,
Ha Ha , I just leave the keys in my 1930 Ford Model A ! Most would never figure out how to start that thing !

1 Turn fuel valve on, hidden under tank in front of passenger seat

2 Spark advance lever fully retarded

3 Throttle lever on steering column pulled about 1/3 down

4 Turn ignition key to on position

5 Open GAV valve 1/2 to 3/4

6 Pull choke out while depressing starter, but very quickly releasing choke or it will flood !

7 Slightly advance spark advance, and let engine warm a bit

8 Oh BTW, even if you did all that correctly but didnt turn the master battery on off switch in the engine compartment, it wont start ! ;)

Of course, then you need to know how to drive a standard transmission car without a syncro trans !;)

All have a blessed and safe day !

If you were really worried, you could have a kill switch on the starter and leave the hand Crank on the floor, just as a dare…

🤣😂🤣😂

Good Morning
71, high of 80 and a decent day today after the fog burns off.

Yesterday, got a few more things online before heading to the airport. Made it successfully to Cedar Rapids, Denver and back. Didn’t leave Allentown until almost 4p because they wanted some night time.
Pretty day in Denver, a little hazy and warm, but not bad.

Got back to Allentown just after 1am and behind a line of thunderstorms. Got home about 2:30. Reminds me of the old days and playing in bar bands.

Today will be similar about to start installing some of the stuff that was delivered yesterday, slowly getting everything back on line. Supposed to depart today at 3 for Florida, Cincinnati, Burlington VT and back. I really should be on the tractor mowing instead of these proving runs.
