One pound prints?
before "quarter pounders" came in, butter was sold in one pound blocks aka prints.
My grandfather sold the business when he was forced by Borden to compete, they had the new quarter pound
production machinery. He sold out to Borden instead. Made a lot of money for back then and within a year lost 90 percent of it
in stock market crash. Went back to work selling Fords.

Drinking frist cup of coffee. 55° with clear skies this morning. Heading to 79° with sunny skies. It rained and misted all day yesterday. Only thing I got done was give Sassy a bath. Visiting my uncle today.
Dancing in the rain.

Everyone stay safe and well.

Good Morning All.

good morning all. Another night getting woken up by driving rain on the windows.
A little more rain this morning, then clearing and a little cooler, maybe 83 today.
off to PT early this morning, then day is clear.

My grandfather, who came through Ellis Island in 1901, was a super hard working guy.
And he always dressed up. Have a wonderful pic of him on some NJ beach in the 20's wearing his
suit. This was what first gen immigrants did I guess when they wanted some respect and to show
they were successful. What was very cool was he was into photography too. So we have some ancient pics floating around,
most I've had to scan. And lots of pics of my gen as babies. I have one of me in a kitchen sink getting a bath that is pretty cute, at
age 1 or so. 1951.

nice hat Grandmom!
I never knew her, she died when I was five or six. Grandfather lasted into my early teens.

Happy Birthday PJ, and hopefully many many more

66 going to 89, lower humidity!

Thomas, sorry about the CDL physical. You seem to be getting along very well.

Happy Birthday, PJ!

Arranged for an exterminator to come out today...hope that will work. I'll tell the hornets "goodbye" when I walk past them feeding birds after it gets light in a few minutes. I have to pass their tree within 5 feet for one feeder I have to re-hang.

Got most everything needing it mowed, but the little 1/4 inch rain dried out faster than I thought. Then did prep work for some interior painting.

Electronics in cars are very handy, but have really driven prices up. I still remember the first vehicle I bought with just simple cruise control...thought I was on top of the world on long trips. The worst electronics in cars are...cell phones...can't believe the number of folks I still see staring down at their phone or texting while driving...and making dangerous driving mistakes because of it.

65 outside this AM, heading into the mid 80's. 90% humidity this AM. Fog bank over the pastures.

Day job called, need to head into the city this AM. Stress factor is on, big boss needs lots of information, of course turn around time is tighter than tight. Got lots of little projects going on that all come down to the next few days. No more auto-pilot for the rest of the week, time to produce.

Plumber got back to us for Milk House water and waste tie in and hook-ups. Not super expensive. Still waiting on roofer to come by. Need to do something with the chimney first.

ZTR should be returning tomorrow. Wife commented how much she loves me for taking care of the "yard". LOL. Two weeks of no mow....yeah, not a good look. LOL. Too lazy to get tractor out. Eyeballed prices of bushhogs and rakes, since mine are slightly used, wow, I think I can get what I paid for them, back.

Hope all have a great day. Be safe.

Good morning! Glad to report Texas is not hot (actually jacket cold) for a few hours today, currently 66˚F before the cloudless sky lets the sun heat us back to 100˚ this afternoon and 107˚ tomorrow.

Buppies the middle of September does not sound too far away.

But it doesn't have any of the safety features of a new vehicle so will his parent let him accept the gift?
No seatbelts, no airbags, no crumple zones, no cross traffic alert, no back-up camera, no lane assist, no anti-lock brakes, no auto high beam, no auto windshield whippers, no collision alert, no adaptive cruise . . . .etc . . . .
It probably has the ultimate theft prevention system today:

Three-on-the-Tree.

does it have the starter switch on the floor like the the same-vintage GMC/Cevypickups?

Which one is the starter and which one is the low beam?

Of all the modern convinces I think power steering will be missed the most.

Good morning! 68f and 95% humidity, it'll be a fun one today. I have to take my mothers cat to get euthanized. The cat has attacked her and left her bloody for seemingly no reason a few times now and my mother finally agrees that it's time. It's unfortunate but it is what it is.

Don's post doesn't apply here. It is only a cool 73 on my back porch. Nice. I'll take it. But tough to hear Buppies heat forecast.

Fire danger is real in Austin area, officials are saying. Evacuation routes are important. One development took hours to clear some years ago. Homeless encampments major reason for fires getting started.

Prayers for rain.

Good Morning!!!! 60F @ 4:30AM. Morning clouds will give way to afternoon sunshine. Expect mist and reduced visibilities at times. High 72F. Winds NW at 10 to 15 mph.

Thunderstorms swept the north state yesterday starting dozens of wildfires. Thousands of acres up in smoke so far, and fire fighters are really scrambling to get them under control.

Back in the day when I was learning to drive, the only driver distractions came from an AM radio on the dash. My first car was a stick shift squareback VW, and I upped the ante by wiring in a cheap cassette recorder into the only speaker. We all thought that was pretty high tech.😂

Placed the order for a bare bones alarm system from SimpliSafe yesterday. Figured I'd give it a try before diving in head first.

Got measurements made for paint in the great room yesterday, and found the owner's manuals online for the hot tub. Lots to learn about heat and filter cycles, and pH and chlorine. Took a stroll down to a little farmer's market where I scored some fresh corn and Brussels sprouts. Couldn't resist another half dozen donut holes for the walk back home. They were gone before I made it out of the parking lot.

California wants a SMOG check, a weight check and a VIN verification on the van before they'll register it, so I'll get started on that today. Should be able to pick up some paint while I'm out, and maybe get a start on that this afternoon.

Fired up the new portable BBQ for dinner last night and it worked quite well. While waiting on the steak, noticed a cat on top of the shed in the back yard and walked over to make friends. It was a little shy, so maybe next time.

Hump Day already!

You learn right quick after a couple of times 😂🤣😂

And I believe that it would be a great first car, for several reasons:

1) it requires actual concentration on driving, and with manual shifting there will be minimal cellphone use.

2) there is outstanding visibility from older vehicles compared to modern vehicles.

3) there is limited passenger room, so you won’t have a vehicle full of teens screwing around.

4) There will be a great desire to make sure he doesn’t bend it up

5) The odds of getting a speeding ticket are exceedingly low!

6) he will have no problem finding it in the mall parking lot.

7) he can fix it himself.

Aftermarket seatbelts are a simple and easy retrofit, and the other Essential upgrade for safety would be to replace the stock taillight and turn indicator incandescent bulbs with LED bulbs (they make them with the old standard bases) for increased visibility.

oh yeah—-

There will be no mistaking his vehicle, so getting in trouble while using this vehicle is a bad idea 🤣👍

How did we survive growing up learning how to drive without all the electronics?
We had basic back than...check oil often, kick the recap tires,if you wanted ac fully open wing window, pull the hand choke pump gas 2 or 3 times, press down on the clutch pick gear gear on three speed hand tree....today vehicles made little safer but more lazy.

Good Morning!

God has given us another chance to get it right (or at least not screw up too badly).

69.1F going to upper 80’s, no rain in forecast today.

oral surgery went well, soft food/smoothies the next several days. Spent the remainder of day on the deck relaxing, next several days are minimal exertion days too, although woodlot trips to pick tomatoes and get Senior dog out for a walk will be on the agenda.

so a couple days of rattling around the house, catch up on reading, maybe futz with that blower again figure out why it has gone from no gas to toooo much gas!

Happy Hatch Day PJ😂🤣

I hope everyone has a happy healthy safe blessed day!!!

Good Evening Thomas,
Sorry to hear that Thomas, is there any chance they will possibly change their mind ? I know that I have to take a physical every year because I take a blood pressure med !

All have a great evening !
Cardiologist doctor was firm no for he been harping on me to slow down, primary I doubt it she would change her mind,I didn't want to push issue that hard ending up losing my operator/mc license.

You should be fine if taking blood meds and if you have stents good working order...try and keep your CDL long as you can.
